Backpack Electrofisher Specifications:

Columbia Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office needs to purchase a Backpack Electrofisher. This backpack electrofisher needs to be able to sample a wide range of ambient water conductivities for Midwestern streams. This unit must be able to offer the standardization output, an integrated GPS, and the ability to import data. The backpack electrofisher should provide the ability to quickly glance at a screen to verify electrofishing settings before, during and after each sample so that standardization can be maintained for each sample.

Features/Options/Specifications:

• The unit must have an output power of 400W continuous and a 47,000W peak; an output voltage 50 to 1,200V in 1V steps; and an output current 40A peak max and 4A continuous at 100V.

• The unit must be capable of having adjustable output frequency 0 to 1,000Hz in 1Hz steps; and duty cycle 0% to 100% in 1% steps.

• The unit should be able to have various output waveforms: Smooth DC, Pulsed DC, Burst of Pulses DC that can be stored and saved with frequency, duty cycle, voltage, and pulse type.

• The unit must have overload protection that will shutdown the unit when there is excessive peak current, average current or over-temperature issues but allows the unit to reset after all issues or conditions have been corrected.

• The unit should be equipped to have an output indicator that gives an audio tone, flashing red light, dynamically plotted output waveform, charted displays for output voltage, current, power, and % load; and a diagnostic screen shows all inputs and outputs, including peaks and averages.

• The unit must be equipped with metering that gives peak and average output current, peak and average output voltage, peak and average output power, battery voltage, battery current, battery fuel gauge, timer and alarm, waveform settings, case temperature, heat sink temperature, percentage load, error messages, fault conditions.

• The unit must have an output timer that is resettable and can have a range of 0 to 999,999 seconds.

• The backpack unit needs to meet these environmental requirements: operational altitude of - 400 to 3000 meters; a relative humidity range of 10% to 90% noncondensing; an operating temperature within the range of 0° to 40° C; and a storage temperature of -15° to 50° C

• The unit must also be designed with these safety devices output features: an indicator tilt switch for Forward 50°, backward 40°, sideways 45° all ± 10°; Immersion sensors; Electrode out of water sensor; Electrode pole switch; Emergency stop switch; Battery compartment interlock;

Battery fuseable link.

• The unit will need to come equipped with two 24V lithium batteries, and needed hardware and accessories for sampling and storage (i.e. pelican case with foam protection).
