Title of Project D.C. Booth Humidifier replacement

1. General:
D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery, 423 Hatchery Circle, Spearfish, SD 57783, Humidifier replacement, D.C. Booth HNFH. NAICS-238220.
1.2 Purpose/End Application:
To replace the Humidifier system for the archives. The current system is not functioning properly and hasn’t been used. The new system will keep the archives at the proper moisture levels to ensure that the collection remains stable.
1.3 Contractor Qualifications:
The contractor must be able to replace the humidifier system and dispose of the old equipment.
2. Place of Performance and Period of Performance:

2.1 Complete address and zip:

2.3 Normal duty hours:
Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. In the event of emergencies, Contractor shall provide contact information.
2.4 Non-duty hours include:
Week nights, weekends, and Government holidays (New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King JR.s’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day).
3. Scope Where to be installed: Vendor shall replace the old, existing humidifiers with a new humidifiers in the Collection Management Facility (CMF) archival building on the fish hatchery grounds. Specifically, two humidifiers need to be replaced in the maintenance room, and two humidifiers need to be replaced on the east wall of the Receiving Room in the CMF.
Size of Humidifiers - The old humidifiers were manufactured by Nortec Model ASD 12.
There were 4 in total to cover four areas of the CMF building: 1st floor storage area, lab, accessions and basement storage area. See last two pages for photos of old humidifiers and rooms served by the humidifiers.
• These were stainless steel distributors for steam dispersion in duct/AHU that included wall and duct mounted controllers with integral sensors that could handle a nominal capacity of 25.00 lbs/hr, a rated capacity of 25.00 lbs/hr, an output minimum range of 1.00 lbs/hr and an output maximum range of 25.00 lbs/hr.
• There was a modulating wall mounted humidistat that had a setpoint range of 0- 100% RH with a controller with internal sensor that provide accurate control the RH in a zone or space.
• The Humidistat included an on/off, control or high limit, duct mounted, adjustable setpoint from 15-90% RH with non-adjustable differential fixed at 4%.
• There was also Switch Air Proving (duct airflow safety interlock) for controlling ON/OFF unit operation.
• Cylinder 202X NHTC/PC with a Smart cylinder designed to accommodate a wide variety of water conditions.
• Steam Distributor SST ASD 24 for steam dispersion in duct/AHU.
• A copy of the full installation manual and specs is available if needed.
Vendor shall replace the old humidifiers to have the same carrying capacity as the previous ones.
Square footage of space to covered by humidifiers is as follows:
• Entry level (including Accession room, Lab, and 1st floor storage area) ~ 2,000 sf
• Basement level (archvial storage room) ~4,500 sf
Expected Performance needed for the Humidifiers – To aid in maintaining correct levels of RH in the collection storage spaces for the archival and artifact collection. The industry collection standard for a mixed collection RH level is 45%, or a non-fluctuating RH above 25% and below 65% for the health and long-term care of the objects.
Vendor Responsibilities – The vendor shall let the archives curator know in a resonable amount of time in advance when they will be working on removing old humidifiers and installing new humidifiers. Per collections standards, the curator or another staff member must be present in the room they are working in to care for the artifacts, move artifacts, etc., if needed. The vendor shall take care and exercise caution near and around artifacts in the CMF receiving room, 1st floor storage room and basement archival storage room. The vendor shall ensure the new system is the correct size for the square footage and ensure the system is fully operational and functioning, and shall train the staff on basic operations of new system such as setting RH setpoint. The vendor shall dispose of the old materials.
4. Deliverables and/or Delivery Schedule:
To replace the humidifier system in the archives CMF building. All necessary components and to dispose of the old system.
7. Evaluation and Acceptance
Fully functional new humidifiers serving the lab, accession room, 1st floor storage area and basement storage area at the lowest price technically acceptable.
8. Quality Control/Quality Assurance:

FAQ's
1. Can the service records for the current humidifiers be given, and who has performed maintenance on current system? We currently do not have any service records or preferred maintenance companies to go with. It has not been operational for almost 10 years.
2. Is the existing ductwork to be reused or replaced? Any existing ductwork can be reused.
3. Will any work effect the daily routines of the staff? The work will not interfere with the routines of the staff.
4. If the new humidifiers have long lead times, will a limited NTP be considered? Yes, we are willing to work with manufactures lead times and adjust as necessary.
5. How long has the current system not been functioning? It has been roughly 10 years since the equipment has been functioning.
