I. GENERAL INFORMATION

A. Introduction Our mission statement at the USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC) is to provide USGS science to Florida, the Southeastern States, the U.S. Caribbean, and elsewhere in the world. We are also leaders in seeking new and innovative ways to meet the critical need for sound, objective scientific information that can be applied to issues of local to international concern.

B. Background

1. The Main Building was constructed in the early 1980s. This building is a two-story building and is approximately 21,000 sf and holds research laboratories and office space. The building was constructed using CMU block and has structural concrete decking as a roof base. The 2nd floor of the building still has the original built up roofing but in 2009 had a 2” polyurethane foam layer applied over existing roof.

2. The South Modular Building is approximately 15 years old. This building is a single story with a low-slope roof system. The building has an existing white, fully adhered, 40 mL thickness, Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) Membrane Roof system.

C. Scope

The purpose of this requirement is to remove and replace the roof of the second story portion of the Main Research Building (approximately 8,841 sf) as well as to remove and replace roofing on the South Modular Building (approximately 3,920 sf).
