About this file
This document provides specifications for seismic electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) cables required under the federal contract opportunity Solicitation Number 140G0123Q0281 for PROSIESMIC ERT CABLES issued by the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants. The salient characteristics specify that the cables must be compatible with the IRIS Syscal Pro 96 electrode logging unit and have 96 electrode take-outs, with the outer jackets meeting specified material properties. The solicitation requires two sets of cables, with the first set comprising eight cables having 12 take-outs spaced at 5 meters and leads of 2.75 meters at both ends, totaling approximately 524 meters in combined length. The second set comprises four cables with 24 take-outs spaced at 2 meters and leads of 1.5 meters at both ends, totaling approximately 204 meters in combined length. Both sets must terminate with a 55-pin male connector for each individual cable.

Salient Characteristics IRIS Syscal Pro 96 electrode cables or equivalent
Cables must be compatible with the IRIS Syscal Pro 96 electrode logging unit.
Cables must have stainless steel and waterproof take-outs at the requested spacings.
Cables must have a lead spacing on each end of at least half of the take-out spacing.
Both ends of the cable need to be equipped with a male 55-pin cannon plug connector.
Each cable set must be comprised of 96 electrode take-outs.
The outer jackets (shielding) for the cables must be made with a polyether-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that meets the following specifications:
tensile strength greater than 7,500 pounds per square inch Shore hardness of 92A abrasive resistant with a taber weight loss of less than 50 milligrams hydrolysis resistant high chemical resistance low temperature flexibility with an apparent rigidity modulus of less than 200 megaPascals at -40 degrees Celsius temperature glass transition of less than -40 degrees Celsius temperature melting transition of greater than 130 degrees Celsius
Detailed specification for the two sets of cables are:
(1) a set of 8 cables with 12 stainless steel take-outs at 5-meter spacing and a 2.75-meter lead at both ends and both ends terminated with a 55-pin male connector for each individual cable (each cable being about 65.5 meters with a total combined length of about 524 meters), and
(2) a set of 4 cables with 24 stainless steel take-outs at 2-meter spacing and a 1.5-meter lead at both ends and both ends terminated with a 55-pin male connector for each individual cable (each cable being about 51 meters with a total combined length of about 204 meters).
