About this file
This document outlines salient characteristics for a current profiling system procurement. The system must include a portable, self-contained, five-beam acoustic Doppler current profiler with an operating frequency of 600 kHz and integrated GPS, compasses, sensors, and bottom tracking. Additional requirements include customization capabilities, 0.001 m/s velocity profiling resolution, Bluetooth and RS232 communications, external power source compatibility, and Windows-based software for data collection, processing, and reporting. The system shall be supplied with a transport case, cables, software, accessories, manuals, and startup guides.
The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 140G0124Q0046 from the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants to procure current profiling systems meeting the above salient characteristics.

2. Shall have an acoustic operating frequency of 600 kHz.
3. Shall include Broadband and Pulse-coherent acoustic processing technologies.
4. Shall include an integral GPS for georeferencing purposes.
5. Shall have bottom tracking capability with a velocity range of +/-9 m/s (29 ft/s).
6. Shall include built-in temperature, heading, pitch ,and roll sensors.
7. Shall have a built-in magnetic compass.
8. Shall include a 5-beam configuration, including a vertical beam.
9. Shall have a beam angle of no more than 20o.
10. Shall have a profiling range from at least 54 cm to 100 m (1.77 ft. to 328 ft) with an accuracy of +/-
0.25% of water velocity relative to the ADCP, +/- 2 mm/s (0.006 ft/s), or better.
11. Shall have the ability for users to fully customize system settings such as water velocity profiling parameters.
12. Shall have a velocity profiling resolution of 0.001 m/s (0.003 ft/s), or better.
13. Shall include at least 16 MB of internal memory.
