About this file

This document outlines salient characteristics for multi-parameter water quality sondes and relates to a federal contract opportunity. The salient characteristics document specifies requirements for 22 multi-parameter water quality sondes including having at least 5 sensor ports compatible with user-replaceable sensors for measurements such as temperature, conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, depth, and various water quality parameters. Additional requirements include Bluetooth connectivity, internal data logging capacity, sample rate, operating temperature range, dimensions, auto-recognition of sensors, wet-mateable connectors, status indicators, a suspension bail, calibration accessories, and compatible software for instrument setup, data collection, analysis and management. The related federal contract opportunity from the US Geological Survey seeks to acquire these multi-parameter water quality sondes according to the specified salient characteristics.

Salient Characteristics S24034

MULTI-PARAMETER WATER QUALITY SONDE

Salient Characteristics

22 ea. Multi-Parameter Water Quality Sondes:

1. Shall consist of a multi-parameter water quality sonde with at least 5 sensor ports for compatible user-replaceable sensors and a central wiper system.

2. Shall be powered from an external 12 VDC power source only and require no internal batteries.

3. Shall be compatible with a range of sensors including, but not limited to, temperature, conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, depth, rhodamine, ORP, total algae, FDOM, total dissolved and suspended solids, ISE ammonium, ISE chloride, and UV nitrate.

4. No depth sensor shall be included with unit at time of purchase.

5. Shall be capable of supporting SDI-12, RS-232, and USB communications.

6. Shall include wireless Bluetooth communications.

7. Shall have internal data logging with ability to store at least 1,000,000 readings.

8. Shall have a sample rate of at least 4 Hz.

9. Shall operate over a temperature range from at least -5 to 50o C.

10. Shall be no larger than 3.0 inches in diameter and 20 inches in length.

11. Shall have the ability to auto-recognize any sensor in any port.

12. Shall include “wet-mateable” connectors allowing cable changes in wet conditions and providing protection against corrosion.

13. Shall include LED indicators for sonde status and Bluetooth status.

14. Shall include a removable bail for suspending the sonde.

15. Shall include calibration cup, tool kit, and at least two (3) port plugs.

16. Shall include compatible software that allows users to manage, visualize, and organize field data collected from a sonde. In addition, the software shall support:

- viewing live and recorded data,

- sensor calibration,

- managing deployment of a sonde (setup sonde for unattended logging),

- a graphical user interface for data analysis.
