About this file
This document outlines the salient characteristics for a current profiling system procurement by the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants. The system must include a portable, self-contained, five-beam acoustic Doppler current profiler with bottom tracking capability from 0.1 to 6 meters, operating at 3 MHz frequency with a sampling rate of at least 1 Hz. Additional requirements include a profiling range of 0.1 to 6 meters with 1% accuracy, water velocity measurement from +/- 5 m/s, capability to measure 128 velocity cells from 2.5-30 cm in size, and integrated sensors for temperature, compass, and tilt. The system must operate on an internal rechargeable battery for at least 7 hours, be waterproof with an IP67 rating, and weigh less than 1 pound. Associated equipment includes a flotation platform, transport case, accessories such as batteries and cables, and GNSS rover smart antenna.
