About this file

This document outlines the salient characteristics for a portable spectrometer system solicitation. The solicitation seeks one portable spectrometer that can accurately quantify various gases including helium, neon, argon, krypton, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, methane, and hydrogen in gases or water. The spectrometer must have at least six inlet ports, weigh no more than 71 pounds, and include all required accessories. It should also include a membrane gas inlet module for analyzing dissolved gases in flowing water over one liter per minute. The solicitation is identified as Solicitation Number 140G0123Q0272 from the Department of the Interior's US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants for a portable mass spectrometer or equal meeting the salient characteristics. One day of online training is also required.

Salient Characteristics S23149

PORTABLE SPECTROMETER SYSTEM

Salient Characteristics

1 ea. Portable Spectrometer:

1. Shall be able to provide accurate quantification of He, Ne, Ar, Kr, N2, O2, CO2, CH4, and H2 in gases or in water.

2. The system shall consist of a field portable spectrometer allowing for on-site gas analysis at remote locations with automated calibration and options for remote control.

3. Shall have a power supply of 24 V(DC and runs off 110–230 V(AC) mains converter (included), batteries, solar panels with power consumption no more than 50 W (normal operation)

4. Shall have at least six (6) inlet ports for gas at atmospheric pressure.

5. Shall include a membrane gas inlet for accurate, unbiased quantification of dissolved gases in water.

6. Shall have open-source software for analysis procedures and data processing.

7. Shall be no bigger than 80 cm x 52 cm x 32 cm in size including carrying case.

8. Shall weigh no more than 71 lbs.

9. Shall include all required accessories such as, but not limited to, communication cable(s), batteries, battery charger and cable, calibration data, and manual.

10. Shall have analytical range of at least ppm-level to 100 %-v/v (tested using He, Ar and Kr in air-like gas matrices) and analytical uncertainty of 1–3% typical (tested for He, Ar, Kr, N2 and O2 in air‐like gas matrices)

1 ea. Module:

11. Shall be gas equilibrium membrane-inlet mass spectrometry for accurate quantification of dissolved gas concentrations in flowing water greater than 1 liter per minute.

1ea. Training:

12. Shall include at least 1 day of online training and instruction.
