About this file

This document outlines salient characteristics for a road surface condition and temperature sensor procurement. The federal agency seeks three sensors that can measure surface condition, friction, and temperature for both the road surface and air. The sensor must accurately measure parameters including dew point, wind speed, barometric pressure, and relative humidity within specified ranges. Additional requirements include an operating temperature of -40 to 60 degrees Celsius, a range of 3-10 meters, dimensions no larger than 77 by 28 centimeters and weighing no more than 5 kilograms. The sensor must function on dry, damp, wet, snow or ice surfaces and include a minimum 30 foot cable and pole mounting hardware. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 140G0123Q0282 from the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants for road surface condition and temperature sensors meeting the outlined salient characteristics.
