Salient Characteristics S22077
SUB-BOTTOM PROFILING SYSTEM
Salient Characteristics
1 ea. Sub-Bottom Profiling System:
1. Shall consist of a portable acoustic system capable of mapping, identifying, and measuring sediment layers below the sediment/water interface in oceans, lakes, and rivers.
2. System shall consist of an underwater instrument (towfish) that can be towed/deployed from a vessel, an above water control interface unit (topside processor), software, and tow cables.
3. Shall include facilities that allow the towfish to be towed, or mounted from a pole, during system deployment.
4. Topside processor shall consist of an electronic communication interface capable of (1) providing power/communication between the towfish and a user furnished computer, and (2) processing and recording of data.
5. Topside processor shall be housed in a portable, ruggedized, rack-mount style, splashproof enclosure, with LED indicators for power, communication, and data transfer status. Shall also have an Ethernet I/O port and at least 2 ea. RS-232 serial ports.
6. Shall have dual transducer configuration with a frequency range of 2-16 kHz.
7. Shall have a vertical resolution of 4 inches or better.
8. Shall include integrated motion, pitch, roll, heave, and depth sensors.
9. Shall employ full spectrum Compressed High-Intensity Radar Pulse (CHIRP) technology.
10. Shall support Real-Time Reflection Coefficient Measurements.
11. Shall have wide band signal processing capability.
12. Shall be capable of penetrating coarse sand up to at least 25 ft., and clay to at least 100 ft.
13. Shall be capable of conducting “pipeline” surveys for detecting buried pipeline and cables.
14. Shall be capable of user-selectable pulses.
15. Shall be capable of operating from 120/220 VAC power.
16. Shall have a depth rating of at least 300 ft.
17. Shall include 2 ea, towing power/communication interface cables: 1 ea at 50 M (164 ft.) and 1 ea. at 20
M (66 ft.) in length.
18. Shall include tow cable hardware (i.e. clamps/grips).
19. Shall include all hardware (nuts, bolts, washers, flange(s), brackets, adapters, plate(s), and/or bridle) for both towed and pole mounting towfish deployments.
20. Shall include compatible software that is capable of (1) monitoring and controlling the operation of the towfish, and (2) processing, observing, and recording sub-bottom surveys. In addition, the software shall be capable of:
- processing and displaying detailed sub-bottom sonar imagery,
- recording survey data that can be played back and further analyzed,
- displaying subsystem controls, real-time imagery, and real-time monitoring,
- supporting visualization of the area covered in a survey,
- supporting internal and external triggers,
- operating in a Windows computer platform, and
- supporting standard NMEA GPS and INS Navigation inputs.
