Attachment B Statement of Need

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Unit

Background:

The Gainesville Mental Health VA Clinic has the need of a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Unit to treat anxiety and depression. This is in support of the new Gainesville Mental Health VA

Clinic being developed.

Scope of Work:

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Unit is an electromagnetic device that non‐invasively delivers a rapidly pulsed magnetic field to the cerebral cortex to activate neurons within a limited volume without inducing a seizure. The device is intended to be used to treat patients meeting clinical criteria for Major Depressive Disorder as defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical

Manual of Mental Illnesses. The TMS Unit must meet the following specifications and have the following operating features:

• Must have contact sensors that provide real‐time feedback to make sure patients get their full prescribed dose o Unit provides alert when contact is lost.

• Must be 3D laser guided with a 6‐point coordinate system o Targeting stimulation to the intended tissues for maximum efficacy and safety delivering exact dosage to the right location. Customizable for patient protocol delivering treatment in less than 19 minutes or less.

• Must have management software that manages, tracks, and reports in real‐time on a stand‐alone system.

• Must have a reclining chair o Exam chair that has height and back adjustments to allow the chair to be raised or lowered to various heights and positions.

• Must be a noninvasive treatment and require no medications or drugs.

• Must be FDA approved.

Delivery:

Items shall be delivered no later than 1 Nov 2022. Confirmation of delivery location will be provided at award.
