Growth Chamber Removal and Installation

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)

Biosciences Research Laboratory

1.0 Introduction

1.1 The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief scientific in-house research agency with the mission to deliver scientific solutions to national and global agricultural challenges. The ARS has been tasked to find solutions to agricultural problems that affect

Americans every day from field to table. The ARS delivers cutting-edge, scientific tools and innovative solutions for American farmers, producers, industry, and communities to support the nourishment and well-being of all people; sustain our nation’s agroecosystems and natural resources; and ensure the economic competitiveness and excellence of our agriculture.

1.2 The USDA, ARS Biosciences Research Laboratory, located in Fargo, ND, has a requirement for

Growth Chamber Removal and Installation Services.

2.0 Objectives

2.1 This requirement is for the removal and disposal of three growth chambers and the relocation and installation of three existing growth chambers into the vacant space.

3.0 Requirements

3.1 Removal of three decommissioned growth chambers (approximately 72”x 48”x 96”).

3.1.1 Disconnect all high voltage and low voltage connections.

3.1.2 Drain Glycol and disconnect from the chilled glycol loop.

3.1.3 Disassemble and remove the chambers in pieces.

3.1.4 Remove all parts and pieces from the site.

3.1.5 Dispose of all parts and pieces.

3.2 Relocate three standard production line Conviron Growth Chambers, Model No PGR15, Volts

120/208, Hz 60, Total Input Amps 10.9, ~1,350 lbs.

3.2.1 Must be placed in location of removed growth chambers.

3.2.2 Dimensions: 104” (L) x 35” (W) x 78” (H).

3.2.3 Disconnect all high voltage and low voltage connections.

3.2.4 Drain Glycol and disconnect from the chilled glycol loop.

3.2.5 Move the chambers to their new location, ~10’ across a level floor.

3.2.6 Reestablish high and low voltage electrical connections.

3.2.7 Reconnect to the chilled cooling loop, top off Glycol loop.

3.2.8 Conduct startup and calibration to bring the chambers up to full functionality.

4.0 Deliverable/Schedule

4.1 Must be completed within 60 days after award.

4.2 Must provide a minimum one-year parts and labor warranty or manufacturer’s warranty, whichever is greater. The warranty period must begin once the chambers are fully operational.
