SPMT Basic Operator Training
1. SCOPE.
1.1. The contractor shall provide two courses of Self Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT)
Basic Operator training for up to eight Government employees. Course instruction will be conducted on PPU Z180 or PPU Z350, 4-axle and 6-axle trailers at Norfolk Naval Shipyard
(NNSY).
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS.

3. REQUIREMENTS.
3.1. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.
3.1.1. The contractor shall provide two (2) classes of training, each five days in duration, 8 hours per day. Content of training is listed in Section 4. Course training will be provided at NNSY where the theoretical part will be in the classroom and practical hands on training at the vehicle.
3.1.2. The contractor shall provide one (1) instructor for a maximum of eight students.
3.1.3. Students are required to have basic knowledge in hydraulics and the electrics, understanding of already created simple load cases.
3.1.4. The instruction shall come directly from Scheuerle, with an extensive background on
SPMT maintenance and operation.
4. GENERAL TRAINING OUTLINE.
4.1. The training class for Basic Operator shall include the following content:
4.1.1. Independently prepare SPMT vehicles for transports according to your in-house instructions for transports.
4.1.2. Operate the main functions of the vehicle and perform the activity of the SPMT operator.
4.2. The contractor offers the following courses for Basic Operator. Government students will select the courses most appropriate for their individual functions.

5. TRAINING LOCATION.
5.1. The training session shall be at NNSY (Bldg. 1763). Course instruction is from 8:00 am to
4:30 pm daily, Monday through Friday.
6. SCHEDULE.
6.1. Selection of classes and training dates will be arranged with the contractor after contract award. Period of Performance (POP) shall be between March 1 and August 31, 2024.
6.2. Government reserves the right to cancel any planned training session with one (1) business week notification to the contractor.
