About this file
This document provides specifications for industrial packaging tape to be used in a solicitation by the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution. The tape is a biaxially oriented polypropylene tape with a pressure sensitive hot melt rubber-resin adhesive and a clear backing. It has an adhesion to steel of 45 oz/in width, a tensile strength in the machine direction of 22 lbs/in width and in the cross direction of 44 lbs/in width, and an elongation at break of 160%. The tape thickness is 1.9 mil and has a holding power of 3,500+ minutes. It adheres instantly to various surfaces and provides edge tear and split resistance along with good adhesion to fiberboard. The tape is available in standard widths of 36 mm, 42 mm, 48 mm, and 72 mm on 3 in diameter cores in lengths of 50 m, 100 m, 914 m, 1500 m, and 1828 m. Application is through various manual and automatic equipment and the tape performs well throughout normal shipping and storage temperature ranges.

Lengths: 50 m, 100 m, 914 m, 1500 m, 1828 m
Application Techniques An extensive line of application equipment including hand held manual dispensers and semi-automatic and fully automatic equipment is available. Application of tape is most easily accomplished at room temperature. At colder temperatures, approaching 32°F (0°C), the adhesive becomes more firm. Once applied, tape performs well throughout the normal temperature ranges typically encountered by packaged products in shipping and storage environments.
Storage Conditions Store in a clean, dry place. Temperature of 40-80°F (4-26°C) and 40 to 50% relative humidity are recommended.
Shelf Life To obtain best performance, use this product within 18 months from date of manufacture.
