PERFORMANCE-BASED WORK STATEMENT

Flooring Replacement in Main Research Building

I. GENERAL INFORMATION

A. Introduction

Our mission statement at the USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC) is to provide USGS science to Florida, the Southeastern States, the U.S. Caribbean, and elsewhere in the world. We are also leaders in seeking new and innovative ways to meet the critical need for sound, objective scientific information that can be applied to issues of local to international concern.

B. Background

The Main Research Building was constructed in the early 1980s. This building is a two-story building and is approximately 22,000 sf and holds office space, research laboratories, and fish holding facilities. The building was constructed using CMU block.

C. Scope

The purpose of this requirement is to replace the interior hallway flooring Main Research Building consisting of approximately 1,550 SF. The requirement will include demolition of all existing VCT flooring in hallways and replace with new.

II. WORK REQUIREMENTS

A. Technical Requirements for Main Research Building flooring work.

1. Demolition of existing flooring.

a. All existing flooring will be removed and disposed of according to local disposal requirements. There are multiple layers of existing VCT. Contractor must remove flooring down to the original concrete. See Drawing 1 for current layout.

2. Replacement Requirements-General

a. New flooring will be Centiva Ash WP-3308-E.

b. New flooring trim tiles will be Centiva Burnt Ash

WP3209-E

c. Flooring will be installed such that Ash VCT will be primary flooring tile. Burnt Ash trim tiles will be one plank in width, installed where floor meets wall.

d. Cove base will be black.

B. Criteria for acceptance of Product or Service:

1. Job acceptance will be based on completion of technical requirements stated in this document.

III. SUPPORTING INFORMATION

A. Place of Performance:

Wetland and Aquatic Research Center 7920 NW 71st Street Gainesville, Florida 32653

B. Period of Performance

Contractor will begin work within 10 days of Notice to Proceed and will complete project within 90 calendar days of project initiation.

C. Government Furnished Property (GFP): NONE

D. Special Considerations.

1. Key personnel qualifications:

A. All work under this contract must be performed by personnel who are experienced and qualified to provide professional services. Contractor will be certified to install boiler heating systems.

2. Data Rights, Safety, and Environment:

A. Safety Requirements: Contractor must perform this contract in a safe manner, observing any necessary safety precautions.

The contractor will promptly correct any condition, which in the opinion of the Contracting Officer, or his authorized representative, endangers the safety of personnel and/or property during the performance of this contract. Failure to observe this requirement will result in contract termination, with the Contractor liable for any such damages that may occur. The Contractor is obligated to perform a thorough inspection each working day of all areas to assure that all necessary safeguards relative to safety and fire hazards are being taken. Special instructions on biological hazardous areas must always be complied with.

3. Security/Privacy issues:

A. Facilities/Storage Space: Limited facilities and storage spaces will be made available to the contractor without cost to him for new equipment waiting to be installed. Facilities and spaces assigned to the Contractor will be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Light, heat, electricity, water, and telephone service as required for the performance of this contract will be made available to the Contractor. The Contracting Officer or his designated representative will have access to the facilities, spaces, and equipment at any time for inspection or for other purposes as required. The areas assigned will be returned at the completion of this contract in the same condition than existed at the beginning of this contract. These facilities will be available for the joint use of the Contractor and Center staff.

B. Damage Reporting: In all instances where Government property or equipment is damaged, a full report of the fact and extent of such damage will be submitted in writing to the Contracting Officer or his authorized representative within twenty-four (24) hours.
