About this file

This document is a specifications file for Summer Pasture Salt FY25 issued by the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service (USMARC). The solicitation requires a contractor to provide 125 tons of custom-mixed pasture salt in 50-pound bags, to be delivered monthly from May 1, 2025, to November 1, 2025, to the USMARC feed mill in Clay Center, Nebraska. The pasture salt must meet specific nutritional requirements detailed in Appendix A and B, including precise mineral content ranges for calcium, copper, manganese, zinc, iodine, and cobalt, and must comply with regulations prohibiting animal proteins in ruminant feed.

The point of contact is Danny Trausch, and delivery will be coordinated with feed mill operations during normal business hours (7:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday). USMARC will order a minimum of 25 tons per month, with the contractor to be notified at least two weeks in advance of each monthly delivery. The pasture salt is intended to provide vital minerals and salt for cattle grazing at the research center, which focuses on solving high-priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries, with approximately 50% of efforts dedicated to beef cattle research.
