Attachment 1 – Specifications Advanced Multispectral Camera for Pecan Tree Assessment
Background and Scope A high-performance multispectral camera is essential for monitoring the growth and assessing the health of pecan trees as part of our in-house research initiatives. At the ARS College Station location, the Aerial Application Technology Research Unit (AATRU) currently operates an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) equipped with consumer-grade RGB cameras and a LiDAR sensor. To enhance our ability to estimate pecan tree parameters and detect diseases and pests, we propose integrating an advanced multispectral camera into the existing UAS platform.
Key requirements The new multispectral camera must have the following specifications:
1) Multispectral sensors (minimum 3.2 Megapixel)
a. Blue (475nm center, 32 nm bandwidth)
b. Green (560 nm center, 27nm bandwidth)
c. Red (668 nm center, 14nm bandwidth)
d. Red Edge (717 nm center, 12 nm bandwidth)
e. Near-infrared (842nm center, 57nm bandwidth)
2) 320 x 256 Thermal sensor (minimum 33.5cm/pixel GSD)
3) Panchromatic sensor (minimum 12 MP)
4) Light sensor capable of measuring ambient light and sun angle for all five multispectral bands with embedded GPS
5) Reflectance calibration sensor and calibrated on-ground reflectance panel
6) Pixel resolution < 2.5 cm at 120 m altitude
7) Capture rate of up to 2 images per second
8) Removable storage capable of supporting up to 2TB size
9) Sensors must be NDAA compliant
