Renovation of the HVAC systems at HS-1 Fort Scott National Historic Site Scope of work:
This project will provide the removal of existing HVAC systems in Officers’ Quarters (HS-1) and replace them with a high efficiency VRF system with proper sized and zoning: The existing systems were designed in 1975 for Officers’ Quarters on each side. The existing north furnace/condensing units serves the southwest corner and some of the northwest corner (2nd floor only). The other two furnaces/condensing units are tandem together and serves the rest of the building. Sometime later the west side was converted into park offices. This changes the demand on the HVAC systems. The office HVAC has totally different demands than the Officers’ Quarter.
Removal of existing shall include the following:
· Disconnect and removal of existing furnaces (3).
· Disconnect and removal of existing condensing units (3).
· Evacuate and removal of existing refrigeration piping.
· Cap and removal of existing gas meter and piping.
· Removal of existing electrical to condensing units.
· Removal of some supply ductwork in the mechanical room.
· Removal of some supply ductwork in a chase between 2nd and 3rd floor.
· Remove existing thermostats.
New HVAC systems shall include the following:
· Provide and install a new properly sized VRF heat recovery unit (1), three (3) blower coil with electric heat backup and one (1) blower coil without electric heat backup.
· Horizontally bore a 12” conduit from the heat recovery unit area into the building mechanical room.
· Provide and install new electrical, refrigeration piping and electrical in the 12” conduit to the heat recovery unit.
· Provide and install a multiport flow selector in the mechanical room.
· Provide and install new electrical, refrigeration piping and control wiring to the multiport flow selector from the heat recovery unit and from the multiport flow selector to the blower coil units.
· Provide and install new electrical to the blower coils.
· Provide and install new thermostats and control wiring from the zones to the blower coil units serving the zones.
· Install new condensate piping from blower coils and multiport flow selector to floor drain.
· Provide and install new ductwork from blower coils to existing supply ductwork for the new HVAC zones.
· Provide and install new ductwork in one chase on 2nd and 3rd floor.
· Provide and install new ductwork and diffuser in secretary office on 2nd floor.
· Modify and install new ductwork in 3rd floor offices 205 & 206.
· Build a partition with a door to create a return plenum.
· Provide and install new electrical, lights, switch and outlet in the new space.
· Seal the existing north chase at the ceiling of the mechanical room.
· Provide and install a return duct from the north chase to the newly created plenum space.
· Relocate a section of a sprinkler pipe.
· Provide new grilles and registers.
· Provide and insulate all new supply ductwork.
· Provide and insulate all existing supply ductwork in the attic.
· Patch and paint existing wall where thermostats were removed and chase were opened for ductwork replacement.
