Mocama is a 66’ long by 20’wide aluminum landing craft weighing approximately 60,000 lbs., 2 main engines, 3306 cats, twin disc transmission with 2” diameter shafts, Keel/Hull cooled. 12kw Kubota generator and electric driven hydraulics for bow gate. Vessel can only be lifted by straps, travel lift and blocked to accommodate. The government will deliver vessel (Mocama) to the awardee.

Any stated manufacturer or brands are for reference only. Any items/materials meeting or exceeding those characteristics must be submitted for approval for use.

Contractor Duties:

1. Contractor is responsible for hazmat cleanup and materials disposal.

2. Inspect and report condition of exhaust stack risers’ plate where exhaust stacks come up through the topside of the engine room into topside pilot house deck.(pictures attached). Advise on stacks plate replacement (refer to bid additive #2).

3. Haul vessel from water, pressure wash hull with 3500 psi, from the water line down. Spot sand and prime 50% of hull and 100% of any bare spots with 2 coats epoxy primer barrier paint suitable for aluminum and two coats of copper free anti-fouling paint (Sherwin Williams: Refer to hull paint specifications). Repaint vertical angles green stripe both sides (park will provide the NPS logo). Fleet the boat.

4. Replace and install zincs, bolt on type, like in kind, Stern: ZSS-12 Weld-On Zinc (4), Rudder 2:

R-5 Camp (1 on each), Hull (Unknown), Shafts 2: X-11 Shaft Zinc Anode (1 on each), Keel Cooler 1: 1274A Zinc Anode for Fernstrum Keel Coolers.

5. Provide paint report (Navsea Standard Mil Spec. 009-32) at end of job completion.

6. Clean Sea Chest (Sea Valves).

7. Remove, Inspect, recondition, and reinstall props. Propellers can be removed without removing the rudders.

8. Remove 2” shafts without removing the rudders and visually inspect shafts in roller stands. Install new seals and make sure three spare seals are bolted on each shaft for in water seal replacement.

Shaft seal make and model is unknown. Vendor will have to determine this when removed.

Shaft/transmission alignment checks are to be done at initial install and after the boat is put back in the water.

16. Replace air filters on the main engines.

17. Inspect bow gate hinges for cracked welds and report condition. Grease bow gate and grease all engine room grease fittings.

18. Inspect and service electric motors (2) and hydraulic pumps (2) for bow gate. Motors and pumps should be inspected for faulty and or damaged parts, as well as inspected to insure functioning properly. Motors and pumps should be greased and lubricated at all points necessary and or needed within pump and motor specs.

19. Inspect, test, and recertify fire systems and provide detailed report (Engine room suppression system and engine driven fire pump). Contractor who recertifies and inspects fire systems should provide report and be licensed to inspect and recertify our specific system.

20. Clean engine room bulk heads (stbd/port/aft/fwd) and engine room bilge, to remove engine exhaust film, with an appropriate degreaser/cleaner. If engine room deck plates are bolted down and can be easily removed to access more of the bilge to clean, they should be removed. If they are welded down, then they should not be removed.

21. Sea Trial to ensure proper operation of vessel and equipment.

• The government will be performing inspections as work progresses. Due to transportation and inspection time/costs, distance from the park will be considered among other factors during the evaluation process of this action. The further the distance, the more costly/inconvenient it will be for the gov’t, so distance may be a contributing factor when determining best value.
