Appendix 1: List of Measurements and Outputs for Icebreaker Parametric Design with Orca3D (07 May, 2020)

All parameters described in this appendix can be discussed and clarified during the kick-off meeting.

The origin for all measurements is the intersection of the Forward Perpendicular (FP), Baseline (BL), and Centerline (CL), unless otherwise noted.

General/Principal Characteristics Output In addition to the parameters in the below table, the script shall export a GHS Geometry File of the hull form. The script shall run and export Orca3D hydrostatics at the design draft and other user-specified drafts.

Parameter Definitions:

· Length of Bow Section: Distance between the two locations defined below

· Forward Location = FP

· Aft Location = Longitudinal location where the angle between CL and DWL becomes less than 1 degree and the turn of the bilge is at least 0.8*(Design Draft) below DWL

· Length of Parallel Section: Distance between the two locations defined below

· Forward Location = Aft Location of Bow Section

· Aft Location = Longitudinal location aft of the Forward Location where the angle between the CL and DWL becomes greater than 1 degree

Outputs Required for Ice Structures Each parameter is defined in Reference 1.

The hull is divided into the below areas. The boundary of each area is defined in Reference 1 and shown in Figure 3. The surface area (in ft2 or m2) shall be calculated and output for each region and subarea.

The location of all boundary lines that separate the areas and subareas shall be output.

· Longitudinal location of the following:

· Forward-most point on the Upper Ice Waterline (UIWL)

· Bow-Bow Intermediate Boundary

· Bow Intermediate-Midbody Boundary:

· Midbody-Stern Boundary

· Vertical location of the UIWL and Lower Ice Waterline (LIWL)

· Vertical and Transverse coordinates of the boundary between Bottom and Lower Hull areas at all stations aft of the Bow Region

· Longitudinal, Vertical, and Transverse coordinates of the intersection of all subarea boundaries and the midship section The bow area is further divided longitudinally into four equally-spaced subareas between the forward-most point on the UIWL and the Bow-Bow Intermediate Boundary. At the mid length of each subarea, the below angles (defined in Figure 4) shall be measured at the UIWL and output:

Parameter definitions:

· Subdivision: A space running from baseline to the uppermost deck between two transverse bulkheads, or between the hull and the forward-most and aft-most bulkhead.

· Compartment: An individual space bounded by a bulkheads fore and aft, and decks above and below, and the hull port and starboard. Compartments include the forward-most, aft-most, and innerbottom spaces that are bound by the hull on more than two sides.

· Innerbottom Volume: The volume of space inside the hull below the lowest deck image4.emf image1.tmp image2.png image3.emf
