Questions and Answers for Solicitation# ALB-17-833097
As of 01/20/2017
1) Does this bid require us to have a GSA schedule?
A – NO
2) On the floor plan, we counted (34) Technician work surfaces but in attachment A, pg.3 the list states 33. Can you clarify?
A – I recounted the work stations and still have a total of 33.
There are 16 along the wall shared with the light industrial space, 4 at the top of the room, and 13 along the wall that separates that upper & lower work stations.
3) Grade of fabric for stations? Or will workstations be fabric grade 1 or 2?
A – We don’t wish to specify a grade because while the pattern availability is not important to us, the durability & stain resistance of a given fabric is important, and it is our understanding that these items trade off with different grades. It is also our understanding that grades vary among manufacturers so there is no industry standard but rather commonly used grading systems that vary by location and suppliers. A detailed description of the fabric types offered would be preferred over specifying a certain grade.
To assist with this, I will explain a bit about the staff’s typical work. The majority of the staff spends most of their days working outside in the field. The work areas are typically in woodlots and often staff will get mud and debris on their cloths so stain resistance and abrasion resistance is very important. The supervisory staff spends less time in the field but will occasionally go out also. There is only one staff member that is always in the office.
4) What criteria is the bid based upon? For example, lowest bidder wins.
A – Best value to the government is how the bids will be evaluated. We would like to see well described options to choose from so that trade-offs can be effectively evaluated.
5) Does USDA have an AutoCAD drawing to scale w/dimensions?
A – Yes, we have attached the AutoCAD drawing.
6) Does USDA have 3D’s available? Would you provide “Tagging” for tables on bid?
A – Not sure what this means.
7) What specifically are the existing furniture items to be removed?
A – We are moving to a new space and do not anticipate having to remove furniture.
8a) On pg.14 of the FedBiz opportunity attachment, an archive date is listed as 4/30/17.
Additionally, on pg. 4 there is an estimated completed installation date by Feb. 15, 2017.
Can you clarify if this is the completion date? If not, when is the anticipated completion date?
A – The space is new construction and we wish to take occupancy on or about March 1st. The construction on the office should be completed by Feb 15th.
8b) Does the USDA provide an electrician and data technician?
A – Yes, the USDA has dedicated IT staff.
9a)Is all the power coming from PP as stated in the RFP or is the power coming from the walls or floors?
A – The private offices will have wall power. We originally requested WIP points but because we don’t currently know what the furniture will be we have changed to having wall outlets that the systems furniture will tie into. I am attaching the recent plans from the construction contractor.
9b) Is there an electrical/data plan available?
A – Yes there is but I don’t have the latest copy. Jennifer Rammer may have the latest plan
10) Are there product pictures or specifications for the basis of design? In particular, the stacking task chair.
A – No, please provide options that we can select from.
11) What is the floor material, which will affect the chair caster?
A – Commercial low pile carpet tile.
12) Is there a plan that delineates room numbers? If so, can we receive it?
A – Yes, we have attached it.
Drawing Questions
1. Can you supply a CAD drawing of the building?
