About this file
This is a Special Packaging Instruction (DD Form 2169) for a hydraulic pump (NSN 4320-01-668-5991, Part No. 332/F7303) detailing the military preservation, cleaning, drying, packing, and marking requirements. The document specifies step-by-step packaging instructions for Level A packing, including operational fluid preservation, application of MIL-PRF-16173 Grade 4 preservative to unpainted surfaces, use of NAS 847 caps/plugs, wrapping with MIL-PRF-121 Type II paper, and cushioning with A-A-59135 foam.
The packaging assembly requires specific materials including a 36x60 foil bag (MIL-DTL-6060E), lumber blocking/bracing (2x4 pieces), hardware sets with 1/2" carriage bolts, and an ASTM-D6880 container sized 16x16x15 inches. Detailed diagrams show the support assembly construction and sequential packaging steps, from inserting carriage bolts through vacuum sealing the foil bag. The unit pack weighs 144 pounds with dimensions of 19.0 x 17.5 x 21.5 inches. This document is dated September 18, 2018 and was issued by the Defense Logistics Agency.
