About this file
This document is a special packaging instruction for a drive assembly fan. It provides detailed requirements for cleaning, preserving, packing, and marking the part for shipment. The part must be cleaned using method 1B, preserved with MIL-PRF-32033 and MIL-PRF-16173 grade 4, and packed either in cleated-plywood boxes conforming to PPP-B-601 or nailed wood boxes conforming to PPP-B-621 class 2 for level A packing. Level B packing requires fiberboard boxes per ASTM D5118, triplewall corrugated fiberboard boxes per ASTM D5168, or pallet base containers per MIL-B-43666. The container must be marked on top and one side with special markings indicating it is reusable and to open along tape seams using a shallow bladed knife. Inspection is to be conducted according to MIL-STD-2073 for preservation and unit packing, and MIL-STD-1186 and the applicable container specification for packing.
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution for SPI containers to package the drive assembly fan per the provided special packaging instruction.
