Owl Creek Culvert/Road Construction Questions & Answers
1. Question: Are the supplemental specifications for this project. Page 19 lists FSSS 704.13 and 705.02.
Answer: Yes, they have been posted to FBO with solicitation amendment 2.
2. Question: Aggregate is Surface Course 1" FS Gradation?
Answer: Aggregate conforms to section 703.05 (c) in FP‐03. Sheet 2, General notes, #9
3. Question: Item 60203 Culvert size, Schedule of Items is 60"equivalent or 66" x 51". Plan on pages 22 & 25 is 81" x 59". Which is correct?
Answer: New culvert is 81” x 59” arch cmp, as stated on the plans.
4. Question: What is the Gauge of the same pipe from question #3?
Answer: No gauge specified. Use 10 gauge
5. Question: Any spec on the air release valve located at the collection pond?
Answer: There is no good detail on the air release. The release was meant to be a manual 3/4” ball valve, installed downstream of the shut‐off in the valve box. When opened it would allow air to enter pipe and drain pipe into storage tank.
6. Question: Model number or size of Item 61101B Valve Box (Christy Valve box)?
Answer: The “Christy Valve Box” does not work at the water tank shut‐off.
I recommend the following correction: Cast iron valve box from Castings Inc., model VB Screw Type CI for 51”‐71”, with 15‐S 18# bottom, or approved equal.
7. Question: Is there any data available for the flow (CFS) of Owl Creek?
Answer: Non Given.
8. Question: Does each tank have a riser with lockable lid or is there just one?
Answer: Each tank has one riser and one iron lid, there are two tanks. Sheet 21, Note #11 should be shown at each riser but it is only noted on one riser. The tanks should be ordered with rings welded on lid and riser for a chain and lock.
AG‐9JGP‐S‐17‐0001
Amendment 0002
9. Question: Does each tank have a ladder?
Answer: Each tank should have one ladder. If the contractor decides to install two tanks joined by a pipe then each tank will have one ladder and there would be two ladders. If contractor installs one continuous tank then there would be one ladder.
Sheet 21
10. Question: Aggregate base on road 27N98 begins 14 foot width at station 153+75.36. Does this continue to EOP at station 288+02? if not where?
Answer: Aggregate on 14’ width begins at 153+75.36 and continues to END ALL WORK at 288+02.4.
11. Question: Roads 27N98 and 26N23 have no pay item or clearing/slash disposal typical or spec.
For the majority of the project it is not an issue but there is clearing/trees in the ditch line at some locations, specifically but not limited to station 157+ 34 to 155+ 50 and from 175+00 to 177+00 on road 27N98 and station 113+20 to 113+80 on road 26N23. There will also be dead fall/hazard trees to deal with. Should this be considered part of item 30307, Road Reconditioning? If so, how should the slash be treated?
Answer: Ditch and Road Reconditioning waste is disposed of under 204.14. 204.15 Acceptance calls for Clearing and removal of obstructions be evaluated under 201 and 203.
