PROJECT CLEAN UP
1. PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. This section covers the disposal of excess material from clearing and grubbing, excavation, building construction, cleaning or any other operation in which waste is generated.

3. PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 WORKMANSHIP
A. The contractor shall provide refuse containers and proper disposal at weekly intervals for solid wastes generated by Contractor’s employees.
B. All debris and unused material shall be removed from the site. All debris shall be disposed of off national Forest land in accordance with local regulations. Site shall be restored to as near its original condition as possible.
C. Burning of material is not allowed.
D. At substantial completion the roof shall be cleaned of all dust and debris.

SECTION 01 90 00
MOBILIZATION PAYMENT PROCEDURES
1. PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. This work shall consist of preparatory work and operations necessary for the movement of personnel, equipment, supplies, and incidentals to the project site, and for all other work and operations that must be performed or that cause costs to be incurred prior to beginning work on the various items on the project site.

4. PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT
4.01 PROGRESS PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE AS FOLLOWS:
A. When 5 percent or more of the original contract amount is earned from other pay items, 50 percent of the amount for mobilization, or 5 percent of the original contract amount, whichever is less, will be paid.
B. When 10 percent or more of the original contract amount is earned from other pay items, 100 percent of the amount for mobilization, or 10 percent of the original contract amount, whichever is less, will be paid.
C. Upon completion of all work on the project, any unpaid amount for mobilization will be paid.
D. The total of all payments shall not exceed the original contract amount for this item.
4.02 BASIS OF PAYMENT

ROUGH CARPENTRY
1. PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. This section covers interior and exterior wall framing.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Furnish materials complying with the following:
1. Softwood Lumber.
a. Graded in accordance with the latest edition of "Standard Grading Rules No. 17,” WCLIB, or "Western Grading Rules," WWPA.
Lumber grades specified below are taken from " Standard Grading Rules, No. 17." Equal grades from "Western Grading Rules" are acceptable. Furnish lumber bearing a recognized grading bureau mark or a "Certificate of Grade" may be substituted. Where a grade for Douglas Fir (DF) species is indicated, other species, if approved by the COR, may be supplied on an equal stress grade basis.
2. Pressure Treatment.
a. Waterborne, conforming to AWPA C2, AWPA P5.
3. Plywood.
a. Graded in accordance with APA PS 1-95. Furnish panels identifiable by a grade trademark of a recognized grading association. Index numbers listed (i.e. 24/0) may be larger but not smaller than shown.
4. All materials and construction techniques shall meet applicable Local codes or the requirements herein, whichever is stricter.

1. Furnish S4S lumber, unless otherwise shown on drawings. Furnish lumber with a moisture content of 19 percent or less for material 3 inches and less in nominal thickness, unless otherwise specified.

3. PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 CONSTRUCTION
A. Framing.
1. Make joints in beam and girders over supports unless shown otherwise on the drawings.
2. Nail built-up girders from both sides with 16d nails at 30 inches on center staggered in 2 rows. Provide 2 nails at each end of each piece and each splice.
3. Set sills level and anchored on the foundation. Set in a full bed of Portland Cement mortar, if necessary to obtain full bearing. Provide flat washers on all anchor bolts.

4. Set joist with crown side up. Install solid blocking over supports.
Provide a minimum of 1-1/2 inch bearing for each joists. Nail with two16d nails at each bearing. Double joists under parallel partitions and at all openings.
5. Toenail rim joists to sill with 8d nails 16 on center.
6. Lap joists over girders 4 inches minimum. Nail with three 16d nails from each side.
7. Notching of joist will be allowed in the end 1/3 of the span only. Limit notching to 1/6 of the joist depth.
8. Set rafters with crown edge up. Cut birds-mouths to provide full bearing. Nail rafters to top plate with two 8d nails and to ceiling joists with three 16d or five 10d nails.
9. Fabricate trusses as shown on the drawings. Nail to top plate with four 10d nails. Install framing anchors where shown on the drawings.
10. Provide continuous length studs. Nail studs to top plate with four 8d toenails or two 16d end nails.
11. Install full length cripples at all openings. Nail cripples to studs with 16d nails at 24 inch on center. Toenail cripple to header with two 8d nails.
12. Provide headers, over opening, of a size indicated below:
Maximum 3'-6" span 2-2x6's Maximum 5'-0" span 2-2x8's Maximum 6'-6" span 2-2x10's Maximum 8'-0" span 2-2x12's Maximum 8'-0" span 2-2x12's
13. Space header material with plywood or surfaced lumber to equal the stud depth.
14. End nail studs to header with three 16d nails.
15. Do not splice columns. Cut ends square to provide full bearing. Nail columns top and bottom with four 16d toenails, or as shown on drawings.
B. Subfloor.
1. Lay plywood subfloor with face grain at right angles to supports.
2. Space panel ends and edges 1/32 inch. Stagger end joints. Nail with
8d nails 6 inch on center at edges, and 10 inch on center intermediate supports.
3. Install 2 inch T&G subfloor at right angles to the supports. Make joints over supports, unless end matched. Stagger end joints a minimum of 1 span. Nail with two 16d nails at each support, 1 blind nail and 1 face nail.
C. Exterior Sheathing.

1. Install roof sheathing at right angles to supports. Stagger end joints a minimum of 1 span. Nail with two 8d nails at each support.
2. Apply plywood roof sheathing with the face grain at right angles to supports. Stagger end joints. Nail with 8d nails 6 inch on center at edges and 12 inch on center at intermediate supports.
3. Apply 1x6 inch T&G roof sheathing at right angles to supports. Make all joints over supports. Stagger end joints. Nail with two 8d nails at each support.
4. Install 2 inch T&G roof sheathing at right angles to supports. Make joints over supports, unless end matched. Stagger end joints a minimum of 1 span. Nail with two 16d nails at each support, 1 blind nail and 1 face nail.
5. Apply plywood wall sheathing with the face grain vertical. Nail with 6d nails at 6 inch on center at edge and 12 inch on center at intermediate supports.
D. Underlayment.
1. Provide 1/16 inch between sheets. Nail with 3d ring shank. Nails 6 inch on center at edges and 8 inch on center in the field. Stagger joints with subfloor.
E. Treated Wood.
1. Field treat cuts and holes in pressure treated members with copper naphthenate.
F. Exposed Hardware.
1. Provide rough hardware for the proper installation of work. Install hot-dipped galvanized hardware, nails, bolts, etc. at locations exposed to the weather.

SECTION 06 40 00
ARCHITECTURAL WOODWORK
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. The work in this section includes providing mill fabricated architectural woodwork with accessories as required for a complete finished installation including cabinetwork hardware in barracks #1014; work will include furnishing and installing a new kitchen sink, kitchen faucet and moving plumbing for kitchen sink and faucet to location under kitchen window.
1. Provide cabinetwork.
2. Provide countertops.
1.2 SECTION REQUIREMENTS
A. Submittals: Product Data, Shop Drawings, and material Samples.
B. Comply with KCMA A161.1. Provide cabinets with KCMA's "Certified Cabinet" seal affixed in a semiexposed location of each unit.
C. Comply with KCMA A161.2 for plastic-laminate countertops.
D. Comply with ADA requirements for removable base cabinets, as indicated in
Drawings.
E. Verify dimensions by field measurements; measure for countertops after base cabinets are installed.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 KITCHEN CASEWORK AND COUNTERTOPS
A. Kitchen Cabinets:
1. Wood-faced, full overlay shaker style.
2. Exposed Wood: Maple,”Natural” clear solid wood or hardwood plywood with
Grade A faces per HPVA HP-1, selected for compatible color and grain.
3. Semiexposed Materials: Solid wood or hardwood plywood with Grade C fac-es per HPVA HP-1, stained to match faces.
5. Shelves: Shelves shall be adjustable as much as practical to accommodate items with different heights.
B. Plastic-Laminate Countertops and Splashes:
1. Plastic Laminate: NEMA LD 3.1, high pressure laminate.

2. Substrate: Particleboard, ANSI A208.1, Grade M-2 or exterior plywood, PS 1, Grade C-C Plugged, touch sanded. Use exterior plywood at countertops with sinks.
3. Backing: Plastic laminate backer sheet, NEMA LD 3, Grade BKL.
4. Countertop Configuration: Square eased edge.
5. Backsplash: 7” high; same laminate as countertop.
6. Style: Formica Corp 180fx or approved equal.
C. Casework Hardware:
1. Adjustable Shelf Standards and Supports : Flush mounted in cabinet.
2. Cabinet Hinges: Concealed type.
3. Cabinet Pulles: Bar pulls, finish to be selected by COR.
D. Drawer Slides: Full extension, rail mounted, minimum 100 lb. capacity will ball-bearing rollers.
E. Anchors, Nails and Screws: Select material type, size and finish required by each substrate for secure anchorage.
F. Wood Filler: Color to match wood being filled.
2.2 FABRICATION
A. General: Fabricate architectural woodwork in accordance with specified quality standards.
B. Plastic Laminate:
1. Apply plastic laminate finish in full uninterrupted sheets consistent with manu factured sizes.
2. Make corners and hoints hairline.
3. Locate butt joints at least 2’-0” from cutouts.
4. Cap exposed edges with plastic laminate of same finish and pattern.
5. Apply laminate backing sheet to reverse side of laminate surfaces.
6. Provide cutouts for inserts, fixtures and fittings; verify locations from on-site dimmensions.
7. Prime and paint contact surfaces of cutouts.
2.3 FINISHES
A. Transparent/Stained Finished Woodwork: Finish architectural woodwork in shop unless otherwise indicated.
1. Sand work smooth; seal, stain and varnish concealed and semi-concealed surfaces of transparent/stained finished woodwork.
2. Transparent/Stained Finish: AWS/Premium Grade finish producing a dull rubbed effect, as approved by the COR.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Install cabinets with no variations in flushness of adjoining surfaces by using concealed shims. Where casework abuts other finished work, scribe and cut for accurate fit. Provide filler strips, scribe strips, and moldings in finish to match casework face.
B. Install cabinets without distortion so doors and drawers fit openings properly and are aligned.
C. Install level and plumb to a tolerance of 1/8 inch in 8 feet.
D. Fasten each cabinet to adjacent unit and to structural members of wall construc-tion. Fasten wall cabinets through back, near top and bottom, at ends and not less than 24 inches o.c.
E. Fasten plastic-laminate countertops by screwing through corner blocks in base units into underside of countertop. Spline and glue joints in countertops and use concealed mechanical clamps.
F. Fasten solid surface countertops by screwing through corner blocks in base units into underside of countertop. Align adjacent surfaces. Form seams 1/8 inch wide and adhere with manufacturer's recommended joint adhesive in color to match countertop. Dress joints smooth, remove surface scratches, and clean en-tire surface.
G. Refer to Drawings for additional information for installation of base cabinets and countertops as required for future ability to be “adjusted” for ADA accessibility compliance.
PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

SECTION 07 30 13
ASPHALT SHINGLES
1. PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. The work in this section includes removing existing asphalt shingles, underlayment, roof vents, gutters, patching sheathing, installing new underlayment, new flashing, new drip edge, new roof vents, new gutters, new laminated architectural shingles and painting all new roof vents to match new roof color and painting all fascia boards to match existing trim color.
1.2 RELATED SECTIONS

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Follow recommendations of Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association
(ARMA) Residential Asphalt Roofing Manual, latest edition.
B. Before beginning work, report to COR if any specification requirements conflict with shingle manufacturer's warranty requirements.
1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Comply with manufacturer's recommendations for protection.
1.5 WARRANTY
A. The installer of the roof system shall warrant in writing the workmanship for 5 years including repairing to maintain a watertight condition.
B. The manufacturer of the roof material shall warrant the product in writing for 40 years.
2. PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS
A. Roofing Felt
1. ASTM D226, 15 pound, unperforated, unless otherwise specified by shingle manufacturer.
B. Shingles
1. Asphalt shingles shall be a 40 year laminated architectural shingle Timberline Ultra HD, manufactured by GAF Roofing Products or approved equal, color to be determined by Engineer in the field.
2. Ridge shingles shall be from the same manufacturer and shall match roof shingles.
C. Fasteners for Shingles

1. Fasteners installed shall meet the asphalt shingles manufacturers requirements. Fasteners shall not penetrate roof sheathing.
D. Flashing and Drip Edge
1. All flashing and drip edge shall be new and shall be at least as thick as flashing/drip edge removed.
E. Vents
1. Roof vents shall be one piece, galvanized, low profile roof dormer vents (eyebrow vent) and painted to match new roof color.
F. Gutters
1. 24 gauge, rolled seamless gutters and factory color coated. Profile and color shall be approved by COR prior to installation; gutter color shall match trim and fascia color. New downspouts shall be installed at all existing downspouts and as needed to allow for the gutters to drain properly.
G. Paint
1. Behr Ultra Exterior, sheen and color to match existing trim color.
3. PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1 CONSTRUCTION
A. Felt Underlayment.
1. Begin by fastening a 19” wide strip of underlayment placed along the eaves and overhanging the drip edge by ¼” to ¾”. Place a full width sheet over the starter with the long edge placed along the eaves and completely overlapping the starter. All succeeding courses will be a minimum of 36” wide and should be positioned to overlap the preceding course by 19”. Secure each course by using only enough fasteners to hold it in place until the shingles are applied. End laps should be 12” wide and located at least 6’ from end laps in the preceding course.
B. Flashing/Drip Edge
1. Install flashing/drip edge as specified in the ARMA Residential Asphalt
Roofing Manual.
C. Laying Shingles
1. Snap horizontal and vertical chalk guide lines on underlayment, then lay shingles following manufacturer's instructions. Construct ridges as specified by manufacturer.
D. Vents
1. Roof Vents - Minimum net free ventilation area of 1ft² for each 150 ft² of ceiling area unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.

2. Install all vents according to manufacturer’s specifications.
3.2 INSPECTION
A. Surface to which the roofing is to be applied shall be even, smooth, sound, clean, and dry. Do not begin roofing work until surface deficiencies have been corrected.
B. If the Contractor should find damaged roof sheathing, fascia, or soffit the Contractor shall immediately notify the Contracting Officer and shall provide a unit cost for the replacement of the damaged items.
C. The site shall be thoroughly cleaned of all materials and debris which may have resulted from the work described herein.
PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

| 3.01 construction |
| A. Framing. |
| 1. Make joints in beam and girders over supports unless shown otherwise on the drawings. |
| 2. Nail built-up girders from both sides with 16d nails at 30 inches on center staggered in 2 rows. Provide 2 nails at each end of each piece and each splice. |
| 3. Set sills level and anchored on the foundation. Set in a full bed of Portland Cement mortar, if necessary to obtain full bearing. Provide flat washers on all anchor bolts. |
| 4. Set joist with crown side up. Install solid blocking over supports. Provide a minimum of 1-1/2 inch bearing for each joists. Nail with two16d nails at each bearing. Double joists under parallel partitions and at all openings. |
| 5. Toenail rim joists to sill with 8d nails 16 on center. |
| 6. Lap joists over girders 4 inches minimum. Nail with three 16d nails from each side. |
| 7. Notching of joist will be allowed in the end 1/3 of the span only. Limit notching to 1/6 of the joist depth. |
| 8. Set rafters with crown edge up. Cut birds-mouths to provide full bearing. Nail rafters to top plate with two 8d nails and to ceiling joists with three 16d or five 10d nails. |
| 9. Fabricate trusses as shown on the drawings. Nail to top plate with four 10d nails. Install framing anchors where shown on the drawings. |
| 10. Provide continuous length studs. Nail studs to top plate with four 8d toenails or two 16d end nails. |
| 11. Install full length cripples at all openings. Nail cripples to studs with 16d nails at 24 inch on center. Toenail cripple to header with two 8d nails. |
| 12. Provide headers, over opening, of a size indicated below: |
| 13. Space header material with plywood or surfaced lumber to equal the stud depth. |
| 14. End nail studs to header with three 16d nails. |
| 15. Do not splice columns. Cut ends square to provide full bearing. Nail columns top and bottom with four 16d toenails, or as shown on drawings. |
| B. Subfloor. |
| 1. Lay plywood subfloor with face grain at right angles to supports. |
| 2. Space panel ends and edges 1/32 inch. Stagger end joints. Nail with 8d nails 6 inch on center at edges, and 10 inch on center intermediate supports. |
| 3. Install 2 inch T&G subfloor at right angles to the supports. Make joints over supports, unless end matched. Stagger end joints a minimum of 1 span. Nail with two 16d nails at each support, 1 blind nail and 1 face nail. |
| C. Exterior Sheathing. |
| 1. Install roof sheathing at right angles to supports. Stagger end joints a minimum of 1 span. Nail with two 8d nails at each support. |
| 2. Apply plywood roof sheathing with the face grain at right angles to supports. Stagger end joints. Nail with 8d nails 6 inch on center at edges and 12 inch on center at intermediate supports. |
| 3. Apply 1x6 inch T&G roof sheathing at right angles to supports. Make all joints over supports. Stagger end joints. Nail with two 8d nails at each support. |
| 4. Install 2 inch T&G roof sheathing at right angles to supports. Make joints over supports, unless end matched. Stagger end joints a minimum of 1 span. Nail with two 16d nails at each support, 1 blind nail and 1 face nail. |
| 5. Apply plywood wall sheathing with the face grain vertical. Nail with 6d nails at 6 inch on center at edge and 12 inch on center at intermediate supports. |
| D. Underlayment. |
| 1. Provide 1/16 inch between sheets. Nail with 3d ring shank. Nails 6 inch on center at edges and 8 inch on center in the field. Stagger joints with subfloor. |
| E. Treated Wood. |
| 1. Field treat cuts and holes in pressure treated members with copper naphthenate. |
| F. Exposed Hardware. |
| 1. Provide rough hardware for the proper installation of work. Install hot-dipped galvanized hardware, nails, bolts, etc. at locations exposed to |
| the weather. |

| 1. Asphalt shingles shall be a 40 year laminated architectural shingle Timberline Ultra HD, manufactured by GAF Roofing Products or approved equal, color to be determined by Engineer in the field. |
| 2. Ridge shingles shall be from the same manufacturer and shall match roof shingles. |
| C. Fasteners for Shingles |
| 1. Fasteners installed shall meet the asphalt shingles manufacturers requirements. Fasteners shall not penetrate roof sheathing. |
| D. Flashing and Drip Edge |
| 1. All flashing and drip edge shall be new and shall be at least as thick as flashing/drip edge removed. |
| E. Vents |
| 1. Roof vents shall be one piece, galvanized, low profile roof dormer vents (eyebrow vent) and painted to match new roof color. |

| 1. Roof Vents - Minimum net free ventilation area of 1ft² for each 150 ft² of ceiling area unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer. |

| 3.2 INSPECTION |
| A. Surface to which the roofing is to be applied shall be even, smooth, sound, clean, and dry. Do not begin roofing work until surface deficiencies have been corrected. |
| B. If the Contractor should find damaged roof sheathing, fascia, or soffit the Contractor shall immediately notify the Contracting Officer and shall provide a unit cost for the replacement of the damaged items. |
| C. The site shall be thoroughly cleaned of all materials and debris which may have resulted from the work described herein. |
