AG-9AC7-S-16-0151 2016 Modoc Roof Repair

Questions and Answers Document v.1 August 12, 2016

Q1. What does it mean in "Project Specifications" under 3.03, C. Allowable erection tolerance, Maximum alignment variation: 1/4" in 40'? I don't know if the buildings are that straight.

A1. REFERENCE: Specification 074113 3.03 C.

ANSWER: Manufacturer’s specific installation instructions should better define alignment tolerances, and will be the primary reference for government inspections on tolerances.

Q2. In the metal installation specification, it says it ‘includes furnishing and installing soffit and fascia’. In the solicitation document, under C.1 Description of Work, it doesn’t mention anything about soffit and fascia. Most of the buildings don’t have soffit and fascia. Should I install it or not?

A2. REFERENCE: Specification 074113 1.01“The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, furnishing and installation of all roofing, soffit, mansard, fascia, and accessories as indicated in the scope of work and specified herein.”

ANSWER: This refers to adapting the new roofing material to the existing roof truss fascia and gable ends per the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Different manufacturers may use different products, but the intent is to provide a sealed, durable roof edge using applicable drip edges, trim products, etc. One of the required submittals is the manufacturer’s installation instructions; government inspection will be based on a collaborative interpretation (agreement between the COR and the contractor) of these instructions for each different roof structure. It is not the government’s intention to modify the current roofs structurally or cosmetically, with the exception of Item 003 “Adin Barracks Roof Structural Repair.”

Q3. Do you want 30lb felt under the metal that will be installed on open framing as well?

A3. Follow the manufacturer’s specific installation instructions.

Q4. Do you want any skylights in the Canby Warehouse? It has some, but most are covered up.

A4. If transparent “skylight” roofing material can be substituted for the regular roofing material without compromising durability, strength, or weather/water tightness, yes, install in the open areas of the warehouse. Quantity shall be about the same as currently exists. However, new skylight windows are not part of the scope of this contract.
