Questions & Answers

Door #1 & door #3 indicates power operated any idea where we are going to be able to get power from?

Q: The power will be supplied by cord to be plugged in, then you will be able to use outlets within the building. Or, if they are “pig-tailed” they will have to be spliced in and that’s the only way you will be doing it. When you say plugged-in, we can provide with either cord or pig-tails for power to be able to brought over to the location and that will then be included within our bid prices, is that correct. Do you want us to include in our prices the cost of bringing power over from an existing location to the needed location?

A: If that’s what is necessary for power to be supplied to the location, then that’s just probably what it will be that has to be done. When you contractors leave this job site upon completion, these doors will have to be in the working order with whatever has to be done.

Q: Has anybody verified that the power supply will not be coming from circuits that may be overloaded once this new need for power is connected.

A: I can have that verified and by the way there’s a panel right there at the end of the building. We will be able to locate a 30amp circuit to pull-off of.

Door #7 Q: This door looks to be aluminum sectional and these type doors are no longer fabricated. Are we expected to use the exact same material which will be extremely expensive if we have to go that way, or can we find an alternate type/style?

A: We have to do this project at a minimal cost and if you can’t get that same style at a decent expense, then we can go with a steel door if it fulfills the need.

Weather Stripping

Q: Do all doors replaced and/or repaired need to have intact weather stripping totally sealed?

A: Weather stripping has to be sealed tight, we are performing this project for pretty much one reason and that is to prevent rodents and bats from entering the building. So, when the job is complete, we need every door to be sealed off from any type of entrance by these animals/rodents on all 9 doors, that’s why this job is occurring.

Door #12 Q: This door shows dents on the bottom and these type of panels are no longer available. Are we going to be responsible for the repair of this type of damage, can we live with these dents?

A: As long as these doors are in working order and there is no chance of entrance from any kind of rodent, the responsibilities of your job are fulfilled. No major dents will be acceptable.

Mobilization on contract:

Q: That’s the bond cost correct? You are not going to wave those correct?

A: That’s correct, these costs will not be waived.

Restrooms on site Q: Will our crews be able to use restrooms on the facilities?

A: We have public restrooms at the main office and if you don’t want to have to walk that far, bring your own “blue-rooms”.

Sleep on site Q: Will we be able to sleep here?

A: No, the public is not allowed to establish camp on this government facility

Door #1 Q: Can we use same door?

A: No, Door needs to be an exterior roll-up due to the need for a greater height on door for the reason of parking fire truck inside that extends to that height. Door needs to be higher for the entrance available

Q: I just want to verify there are/will be specifications on that type of exterior roll-up door being we are changing from a sectional to a roll-up A: We have decided to change the requirements on this door to now read it must be a curtain fabricated door with 22 gauge steel individual overlapping slats which will be a much stronger than one continuous sheet service material.
