CAMERON WATER IMPROVEMENTS

ELECTRICAL GENERAL PROVISIONS 26 00 00-1

SECTION 26 00 00 – ELECTRICAL GENERAL PROVISIONS

Revision 1

PART 1 GENERAL

1.01 SCOPE: The work under this section includes all labor and material necessary for the installation of a partial electrical system AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, and described in this section of the specifications. In general the work includes, but is not limited to the following:

A. Modify existing well pump control panel and grounding conductors for the wellhead.

B. Install water system controls between wellhead and tank site.

1.02 CODES AND STANDARDS: Work performed under this section shall meet the minimum requirements of the following:

A. National Electric Code, most recent edition with California amendments.

B. Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

C. National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA).

D. SDG&E requirements where applicable.

If any requirement of the above is in conflict with another, or with a requirement stated or otherwise INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS or in these specifications, the more stringent requirement shall govern. Stringency, when in question, shall be at the discretion of the Contracting Officer.

1.03 LICENSED CONTRACTOR: All work performed under this Section shall be performed by a licensed electrical contractor holding a current State of California C-10, C-61/D21, C-57 license. Prior to commencing work, the Contractor shall present a photostatic copy of his current license to the Contracting Officer.

1.04 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: No separate payment will be made for work specified under this section. Work covered in this section shall be considered incidental to section 33 11 00, Water Utility Distribution System. Payment will constitute full compensation for all materials, labor, equipment, testing and incidentals necessary to complete the work as specified herein and AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, and provide a complete and operational power system for the site. Work includes all excavation, bedding, backfill, compaction and testing, connections, fittings, and appurtenances necessary to connect to the existing electrical system.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS: Electrical materials shall be new and have the approval of the

Underwriters Laboratories, or other nationally recognized and approved testing facility, whenever applicable standards have been established by the Agency. Where two or more identical items, assemblies or pieces of equipment are required, they shall be by the same manufacturer.

2.02 STANDARD PRODUCTS: All materials to be furnished under this Division shall be the standard products of manufacturers regularly engaged in the manufacture and production of such equipment equal to or superior to the material specified and shall be the manufacturer's latest design that complies with the Specification requirements.

2.03 APPROVAL AND SUBSTITUTION OF MATERIALS: All materials required for this

Division shall be specifically approved in accordance with General Conditions.

Equipment and materials listed or designated herein or ON THE DRAWINGS show the intent of arrangement, quality, accuracy, range, and action required. Where manufacturers' names and models are shown, it is for purposes of showing intent only.

Equipment and materials which are equal in all respects will be accepted when approved by the Contracting Officer. The Contractor shall be responsible for design modifications or other changes due to substitutions.

2.04 SUBMITTALS: The Contractor shall submit to the Contracting Officer for approval five copies of submittals and/or shop drawings for all specified materials. The Contractor shall furnish catalog data, descriptive literature, manufacturer's drawings, owners manuals and operation manuals for all materials and equipment installed. Products not specifically identified by brand name in these Specifications require approval according to FAR 52-236-5.

Note: Additional submittal requirements may be addressed in individual Sections of these Specifications.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS: Where applicable, all materials, equipment, devices and appurtenances shall be installed in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer of the particular item. The Contractor shall have on hand all installation manuals, brochures, and procedures for the equipment and materials concerned. The Contractor shall be held responsible for all installations contrary to the manufacturer's recommendations. Any proposed deviation shall be first certified in writing by the particular manufacturer as being in accordance with their recommendations. If any item of equipment or material is found to be installed not in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation, all necessary changes and revision to achieve such compliance shall be made by the Contractor at no cost to the government.

3.02 INTENT AND LAYOUT:

A. The DRAWINGS and Specification indicate or show the intent of the work required.

It is intended that the work shall be complete in all respects. Division 26 shall be responsible for a complete electrical system as designed by the contractor, approved by the Contracting Officer, and AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS.

B. The layout of panels, pump saver, receptacles, switches, and similar equipment, and not specifically dimensioned, shall be installed AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS and approved by the Contracting Officer.

C. The layout, which shall include all approved materials to be used on the job, shall be checked for interferences with work of other trades before installation. If discrepancies are found, report them immediately to the Contracting Officer for adjustment, or the Contractor will be held responsible for removal and correction of work done in error.

3.03 COOPERATION WITH OTHERS: The Contractor shall check work under this Division for interference with work under other divisions and shall cooperate in making relocations so as to avoid all such interferences and shall organize his work to harmonize with work of other trades so that all work may proceed as expeditiously as possible.

3.04 CLOSING OF UNINSPECTED WORK: The contractor shall not allow or cause any of his work to be covered up or enclosed until it has been inspected and approved by the

Contracting Officer. Should any of the work be enclosed or covered up prior to inspection and/or testing, the contractor shall, at his expense, uncover the work. After the work has been tested, inspected and approved, the Contractor shall, at his expense, make all repairs necessary to restore all work disturbed by him to its original and proper condition.

3.05 PROTECTION OF WORK: Until final acceptance of the work, the contractor shall protect all materials from damage, and shall provide adequate and proper storage facilities.

A. The Contractor shall replace all damaged or defective work, material and equipment before final acceptance.

3.06 DEMONSTRATION OF A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: After all electrical systems are completed, the Contractor shall conduct an operating test for approval in the presence of the Contracting Officer to demonstrate that all equipment, fixtures and appurtenances are properly installed and operating.
