Questions and Answers
Q: Do all areas need to be sprayed with herbicide, or are there any leave islands or leave areas that are not to be treated? If so, how many acres would be included in the leave areas? On the map it looks as though there is a 5 acre area that does not need to be sprayed, are there any other leave areas not to be sprayed?
A: The 5 acre test plot will not be sprayed with herbicide. Other than that everything that gets cut will be sprayed. Although throughout the fuel break there will be single broad leaf bushes that we will not cut that will be identified prior to work starting. For example we may leave several larger broad leaves, mainly manzanita bushes per acre. Large live oak trees will not be cut. Not to be confused with scrub oak bushes that will be cut. Herbicide will also not be sprayed within 100’ of the drip line of any large live oak trees within the project, and not within 150’ of any stream or running water, which with the drought I have not observed any running water or stream within the project boundary to date.
