Excessive residual tree damage caused by the Contractor and determined to be damaged beyond recovery shall be considered as "Contractor-damaged trees" and will be charged to the Contractor. Any damages will be at current prices as verified by a certified timber cruiser. Contractor-damaged trees remain the property of the Government and will include trees 9 inches D.B.H. and larger.

(i) When necessary in confined areas, small residual trees (under 8 inch D.B.H.) may be cut, bucked and piled to allow for 10 foot spacing between the pile and live trees or brush. All small residual trees (under 8 inch D.B.H.) and damaged severely by the piling operations shall be cut, bucked and piled.

(j) All logs more than 10 feet in length designated for piling, shall be bucked at 10 foot intervals before piling.

(l) Ground coverage required to pile shall include existing brush areas and existing tree thickets that allow access of at least one blade width.

(m) The Contractor’s equipment shall be cleaned (washed or air) free of weed debris prior to moving equipment off site or more than ½ mile to next unit and before initial arrival to the work site.

Subcontracting: The Government reserves the right to approve or disapprove any subcontractors selected.

Therefore, the Contractor shall obtain approval from the Contracting Officer for all subcontractors prior to entering into any subcontracts for the performance of work under this contract. The Contractor’s request for approval shall be in writing and include the specific work to be accomplished by the subcontractor.
