Questions and Answers
1) Is this a sole source bid or are “equal” products being accepted? Specifications in Section 5.0.E.2. & 3. are for one manufacturer only, and Section 5.0.E.4 excludes all other manufacturers and the industry standard for guidance wheels.
Equal products are accepted as long as they meet the specifications. FAR 52.211-6 -- Brand Name or Equal has been incorporated into the solicitation.
2) If GSA pricing is more advantageous than Commercial pricing, can this be provided?
Yes
3) On page 1 of the drawing, it shows the mobile system shelving in blue and stationary shelving in red. The specs do not mention that the stationary shelving is on fixed carriages. Is it acceptable that these be mounted directly to the floor?
Stationary shelving is not a part of this contract
4) In Section 5.0.A.5. it states that each rail must extend under all stationary ranges, yet it is appears the stationary shelving is not on fixed carriages and the drawings do not show rails under the stationary units. Please confirm.
Stationary shelving is not part of this contract and is on stationary carriages
5) In Section 1.0.C, it states that the shelving will have 6 evenly spaced shelf levels, but on page 1 of the drawing, it shows the blue shelving elevation to be 6 levels and the red shelving elevation to be 5 levels. Please confirm.
Stationary shelving in red is not part of this contract
6) In Section 5.0.H.1, it states that either end panels or chainbox covers can be provided. Yet, in Section 5.0.H.3, it talks about the end panel selection and also talks about this in Section 2.0.G. If chainbox covers are provided, then no end panels are used. Can you confirm that chainbox covers are acceptable in lieu of end panels.
Yes chainbox are acceptable in lieu of end panels
7) Would you like an option for a system with a raised deck between the tracks instead of the ramps on each track which would be less expensive and allow carts to be pushed in the aisles?
No, bid the contract as specified
8) Since a system is available that could be installed over the existing carpet with leveling screws, without having to remove the carpet beneath the tracks to grout the system, would a system with no grout yet the same warranty and durability be acceptable?
Bid the contract as specified
9) Do the ramps at each track need to be ADA ramps or are standard ramps acceptable?
Must be ADA compliant
10) The solicitation states that the Delivery / Period of Performance is 5 days after receipt of PO., yet Section 1.7.A. states that the installation is 5 calendar days. Since all products are custom made and require at least 30 days to manufacture, can you confirm that the 5 days referred to in the solicitation is the installation time frame once the product is delivered.
Yes, 5 days is the installation time. The contract time/delivery in the RFQ has been revised to read as follows: 30 calendar days after receipt of order to deliver and 5 calendar days after delivery for installation.
11) What is being stored on this shelving (letter files, legal files, boxes, etc)?
Paper, boxes, files, etc.
12) Do you need pass-thru shelves or shelves with back stops?
A center stop and double faced
13) Will you accept product manufactured in and shipping from Canada?
Yes, but please refer to the Buy American clauses in the contract. The offeror must list as foreign end products those end products manufactured in the United States that do not qualify as domestic end products. The Government will evaluate these offers in accordance with the policies and procedures of Part 25 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
