All other work and materials not shown in either Road or Facility Schedules will be considered as included in the payment for items shown.

1.02 Methods of Measurement - One of the following methods of measurement for determining final payment is DESIGNATED on the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS for each pay item:

A. Contract Quantities (CQ) - These quantities denote the final number of units to be paid for under the terms of the contract. They are based upon the original design data available prior to advertising the project. Original design data include the preliminary survey information, design assumptions, calculations, drawings, and the presentation in the contract. Changes in the number of units SHOWN in the SCHEDULE OF ITEMS may be authorized under any of the following conditions:

1. As a result of changes in the work authorized by the Contracting Officer.

3. As a result of the Contractor submitting to the Contracting Officer a written request showing evidence of errors in the original design data used to determine design quantities that cause a pay item total to change by 15 percent or more. The evidence must be verifiable and consist of calculations, drawings, or other data that show how the designed quantity is believed to be in error.

B. Staked Quantities (SQ) - These quantities are determined from staked measurements prior to construction.

C. Actual Quantities (AQ) - These quantities are determined from measurements of completed work.

D. Vehicle Quantities (VQ) - These quantities are measured or weighed in hauling vehicles.

B. Membrane Curing: Membrane curing may be used at the Contractor's option, Do not place membrane cure on slabs receiving resilient floorings. Complete required surface finish prior to application of curing compound; use water curing during finishing period. Spray material on surface at the rate of 1 gallon per 300 square feet in two applications, resulting in a coverage of 1 gallon per 150 square feet. Apply first coat immediately after acceptance of finish. Thoroughly wet concrete with water and apply material just as surface film of water disappears. Apply second coat after first application has set. Recoat any rupture to the membrane seal immediately.

3.07 Protection During Curing - Protect concrete from loading and vibration for a minimum of 7 days from time of placement.

Normal concreting operations may resume when the ascending temperature at the site exceeds 40 F.

Provide cover and heating equipment sufficient to maintain the temperature of the concrete at not less than 50 F for a period of 3 days for Type I and Type II cement. Maintain the temperature at not less than 50 F for a period of 2 days for Type III cement or when one additional sack of Type I or Type II cement is added.

Provide additional protection to prevent the concrete temperature from dropping more than 40 F in the 24 hour period following the required protection period.

Remove and replace any concrete damaged by frost or freezing as directed by the COR.

3.09Testing
All tests will be the responsibility of the Contractor and certified test results shall be submitted to the Engineer. Samples will be selected on a random sample basis in accordance with ASTM C-172. If the measured slump or air content falls outside the specified limits, a check test shall be made immediately on another portion of the same load. In the event of a second failure, the concrete will be considered to have failed the requirements of the specification and the load will be rejected.

03301-7 The following concrete tests will be taken:

1. Slump: Testing will be in accordance with ASTM C-143.

03301-

2. Air Content: Testing will be in accordance with ASTM C-231.

3. Compressive Tests: Compressive test cylinders will be molded, cured, prepared and tested in accordance with ASTM C-31 and C-39. A minimum of three (3) cylinders will be taken from each truckload of concrete.

The first cylinder from each set shall be tested at 7 days (3 days for Type III cement), the second at 28 days, and the third shall be tested immediately if the second cylinder in the set fails at less than the specified compressive strength. Test results of cylinders tested at 28 days will form the basis for acceptance or rejection of concrete strength. Each 28-day compressive test result shall be the average of the compressive test of two cylinders from the same set. A minimum of two (2) cylinders from each batch will be evaluated in accordance with ACI 318-77, Article 4.8.2.

Testing frequency shall be one set of tests per every other truck. An example, if one truck delivers concrete every day, testing is required every other day. If three trucks deliver concrete on the same day, two trucks are tested.
