Addendum for Cattle Spray Box:
F. Hydraulic system for rear entry door and front exit door
This system shall consist of a power unit—Honda GX160 (or equal) gas-powered motor, with attached hydraulic pump and reservoir. The unit shall be mounted opposite the operator’s cage platform. Two small, hydraulic cylinders shall be affixed to the top of the door mechanism and bracket that’s welded to spray box frame. Stroke of cylinders can be determined at time of installation. Two control levers to operate the doors shall be mounted in the operator cage. If the operator is standing in cage the control levers shall be directly in front of operator for easy access.
The need for a hydraulic system is twofold: with large numbers of cattle it will greatly reduce fatigue of having to operate the spray box, and hydraulics will allow us to go to a much heavier gauge of metal for the doors. In the past the doors have been built to accommodate manual operation. The lighter the better (too heavy is hard to operate manually). However, being lighter made them susceptible to damage, which caused more problems with the box leaking while in operation. The door should be a minimum of 3/16 plate metal with formed edges and a channel iron center piece running from the top to the bottom of the door.
G. Delivery
The order shall be completed within 12 months of date of award.
