1.0 SPECIFICATIONS

The Government intends to award a fixed price purchase order for 1 vacuum/gravity steam sterilizers units (sterilizer or autoclave, used interchangeably) for the proper sterilization of plant material, soil, insect diet ingredients, agar based media, and liquid solutions. The autoclave is for use in a general purpose laboratory. The plumbing will attach to the rear of the unit.

1.1 Required Autoclave Features

The sterilizer/autoclave must have the following specifications to meet the required usage:

a) Remove and replace functioning AMSCO Sterilizer unit model 3043-C, provide costs for removal and trade in value for used unit if any.

b) Single horizontal (hinges on the right), front‐loading door, recessed installation with face flush to existing wall. Extended fascia panel (brushed stainless steel) 55” wide x 83” high to cover existing wall opening.

c) Vacuum/gravity sterilizer capable of sterilizing solids, porous materials, wrapped goods, unwrapped goods and liquid load types including glassware, plastic supplies, utensils, autoclave redbags, media, liquids, and soils according to cycle requirements. Programmable files are needed to handle liquids, soils, and glassware.

d) Exhaust Filtration: Filter or Trap, with effluent cooled to below 140 degrees

e) 100% steam sterilization supplied by in‐house steam, supplied at 50 PSI

f) Inside chamber dimensions approximately 20”W x 20”H x 38”D, square. Capacity approximately 250 liters

g) Inside chamber constructed of 316 grade stainless steel

h) Front trim comprised of 316 or 317 grade or similar grade stainless steel surface to prevent corrosion and pitting as found in an acidic environment

i) Loading equipment: Internal racks to accept two shelves to be included

j) The provided unit must be brand‐new (not refurbished)

k) 120 V 20 amp power will be supplied

l) Air pressure should be supplied by integral/internal air compressor that makes a good gasket seal.

1.2 Installation

The contractor is responsible for disassembly of and discard of current unit and installation of new unit. The government will disconnect plumbing and electrical service from the old unit, and install a stainless steel fascia to seal the backside of the unit (existing internal wall) where an autoclave door is currently located in a sterile, quarantine lab. No additional construction is needed for the installation of the unit. The government will provide plumbing to the unit, and electrical service disconnect.

Installation should include removal of the existing double door unit, removal of the bio-seal and disposal of those components. The installer is responsible for providing plumbing connectors, elbows, fittings, and electrical connection (flexible) to the electrical disconnect box. The installer will also provide stainless steel fascia to the new autoclave door facing the non-sterile lab as described above to provide a flush face installation.

1.3 Warranty

The Government requests at least a 10‐year manufacturer’s warranty on the internal pressure chamber, and at least a 1 year warranty on defective parts/materials and workmanship, with replacement of defective parts and coincidental labor covered under the warranty. A longer term warranty is preferred and will receive a higher rating than those with only a one year warranty. Please provide all information relating to the warranty offer and any validity contingencies as related to Section 1.4 below.

1.4 Maintenance Requirements

Please discuss any maintenance required for usage of 7 times per week to keep the autoclave in acceptable working order, if any, along with all known factory‐trained maintenance companies that service Edinburg, TX. (Please note: This is not a request for services or pricing of services, it is for informational purposes only.)

Routine maintenance parts (seals, gaskets, filters and trap elements, solenoids, micro‐computer processor replacements, etc.) should be readily available from a source within the United States, to prevent delays and to minimize down time of operating the sterilizers. A statement identifying source(s) and location of parts supplier(s) is requested as part of the quote.

1.5 Training

In addition to providing a manual, the vendor must provide on-site training to government personnel on the use of the autoclaves upon completion of installation. Training location is below under 2.0.

2.0 PRICE

Pricing must include an autoclave with the specifications outlined in Section 1.0, removal of the current autoclave*, trade in value of old unit*, delivery to the loading dock, installation, testing, and training of personnel on the use of the new autoclave at:
