Statement of Work: Plastic Bucket Trap August 2015

STATEMENT OF WORK

Plastic Bucket Trap

(Green top, yellow funnel and white bucket)

A. BACKGROUND:

Insect traps used with attractants are sensitive detectors of insect populations at the group, genus, or species level, depending on the type of attractant. Traps and attractants allow for detection and monitoring of non-indigenous insect pests and aid in a variety of control strategies. If not detected, monitored, and managed in the early stages of a new infestation, these pests can cause tremendous damage. The cost of eradication could be in the millions of dollars.

B. OBJECTIVE

The requested supplies are needed to equip program personnel to detect and monitor exotic pest infestations. Traps and lures are a primary tool used to detect the initial infestation, delimit the extent of the infestation, and manage introduced pest populations.

Without the appropriate trap and lure combination, detecting and defining the infestation might not be possible. Early detection can reduce the costs of an eradication program and make it more likely to succeed, potentially saving the USDA, the States, and cooperators millions of dollars.

C. CONTRACTOR’S DUTIES

3) trap bottom “bucket” (Figure 1).

Lure dispensers may be placed into the lure basket (Figure 1, 3). The trap is available in various color combinations. For PPQ programs, the trap shall consist of a green top, yellow funnel, and white bucket.
