We began with a review of the contract documents and that this was a 100% set- aside for women owned businesses. Logistics of the site were then discussed including Midewin security gates, issuance of keys, and coordination with the Prairie View landfill. It was clearly stated that the contractor will be responsible for submitting the proper notification to the Illinois EPA , including asbestos testing results, as required for any demolition within the state.
The group then travelled to the site for the remainder of the meeting. The following items were discussed and clarified:
1. Any trees and brush removed in order to demolish the structures can be neatly piled and left on site.
2. All wooden power poles at the site must be pulled from the ground and either disposed off-site or added to the pile of trees/brush
3. Asphalt at the site outside of the actual footprint of the structures does not have to be removed.
4. For purposes of the bid, do not include any costs to bring in additional topsoil or fill. The COR will determine if additional fill will be needed after the structures are down. Any additional cost associated with the need for additional fill must be coordinated through the COR and the Contracting Officer.
5. A significant number of old rubber tires were present at the site. They must be removed and properly disposed off-site.
6. There are no water sources at the site so any water needed to suppress dust, asbestos, etc. must be trucked to the site with all costs being borne by the contractor.
To the best of my knowledge, these were the main topics covered at the meeting.
