QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Site showing – July 28, 2015
1. Q: On page 6-4, the PLS calculation does not show up, was it in the SOW? I believe we put it in a table, is there a compatability problem with something? I would like to send it to you directly, just let me know the best document format MSWord or PDF or other.
A: There was an issue with the pdf document; revised page 6-4 of Specification 6 is included with this Amendment No. 1.
2. Q: Can rubber tires be used instead of geocell, the rubber tires used would be recycled?
A: Not at this time. We will research that option considering permitting requirements, lifespan, certification/sterilization process and many other factors.
3. Q: Is a sediment and erosion control plan required to be submitted to the COR for approval?
A: No, but you are responsible for pollution control. Please refer to the full text of Construction
Specification 5 for details.
4. Q: Is an Army Corps of Engineers permit required?
A: NRCS obtains the ACOE permit required to do this work. The Contractor is not responsible for this permit.
5. Q: How will the removed culvert pipes be disposed of?
A: Construction Specification 3 – Structure Removal states that they will be removed and disposed of offsite in a legal manner, however if the landowner informs us that he wants to keep them we will designate a location for their placement on his property. The contractor will be informed of this location after award.

A: Yes, they will be identified by the Inspector at the start of construction.
7. Q: Can the earthfill removed from the road be placed in the low wet areas to the left and the right?
A: No, it must be placed on a different section of the road, on the out parcel area or in one of the turnarounds.
8. Q: Is the crossing location exact?
A: No, it may be shifted slightly by the Inspector to avoid large or numerous trees.
