Statement of Work

Provide and install two awnings over the laboratory gases, storage, and sheltered parking for the FSIS fork lift.

The awnings shall be installed as follows:

1. On the south side of the courtyard, positioned near the FSIS roll-up door.

It shall extend eastward for 46 feet providing 12 feet of coverage from the wall going north.

The design shall be the same as the existing courtyard awning, i.e. free-standing, supported from the existing wall. See the attached photos.

Each awning shall be pre-engineered/designed by the firm that is to fabricate and install it, in consideration of these existing conditions:

The existing stucco finish/substrate, at those points where the awning supports shall to be attached to the exterior wall, shall be removed such that the supports are secured directly to the bare concrete of the exterior wall. The interface between the exposed stucco substrate and the supports shall be caulked or otherwise waterproofed to prevent the infiltration of rainwater into the stucco substrate.

2. On the west side of the West Annex Building, positioned from the exit of the FSIS Breakroom.

It shall extend southward for 36 feet, to provide 18 feet of coverage from the wall toward the west.

The design shall be supported by poles as provided in the attached “WAB” photo.

Height: 10 – 12 feet, as appropriate.

Each awning shall be pre-engineered/designed by the firm that is to fabricate and install it, in consideration of these existing conditions:

The vertical supports shall be located so as not to obstruct the paths of egress at the FSIS Break Room exterior double doors and the west side elevator/steam line ramp.

The existing EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finish System), at the points where the awning supports are attached to the r wall, shall be removed so the supports can be secured directly to the bare concrete of the exterior wall. The interface between the exposed EIFS substrate and the supports shall be caulked or otherwise waterproofed to prevent the infiltration of rainwater into the EIFS substrate.

Awnings need not be load bearing as their purpose is to provide shade and precipitation protection.

Construction materials may be plastic, aluminum or as best determined by the offeror, and color choices, to complement the existing structures, shall be provided with your quote.
