FEED SPECIFICATIONS FOR “FY16 - LARGE ANIMAL FEEDS Nov, 2015
ITEM 1: CODE 540: SWINE FINISHING RATION - 50# BAGS, PELLETED, SIZE 5/32 INCH
Formulated to meet the nutrient requirements for finishing swine, 40 to 120 kg body weight, as specified in: Nutrient Requirements of Swine, revised 1998. Minimum of 13% - 14% crude protein and 5.0% crude fiber.
ITEM 2: CODE 590: SHEEP MAINTENANCE RATION - 50# BAGS, PELLETED, SIZE 5/32 INCH
Formulated to meet the nutrient requirements for maintenance of adult sheep, 45 to 100 kg body weight, as specified in: Nutrient Requirements of Small Ruminants: Sheep, Goats, Cervids, and New World Camelids (2007). NOTE: Sheep will have access to long-stem hay or hay cubes. Minimum of 10%-14% crude protein.
ITEM 3: CODE 591: SHEEP MAINTENANCE RATION - BULK, PELLETED, SIZE 5/32 INCH

ITEM 5: CODE 520: BEEF MAINTENANCE RATION - BULK, PELLETED, SIZE 1/4 INCH
Formulated to meet the maintenance nutrient requirements for mature cattle ( 400 to 650 kg body weight, as specified in: Nutrient Requirements of Beef Cattle revised 7th edition. NOTE: Mature cattle will have access to long-stem hay or hay cubes.

ITEM 7: CODE 548: BEEF GROWER / FINISHING RATION - 50# BAGS, PELLETED, SIZE 5/32 INCH Formulated to meet the nutrient requirements for steer and heifer calves, 100 to 400 kg body weight, as specified in: Nutrient Requirements of Beef Cattle revised 7th edition. NOTE: Cattle will have access to long-stem hay or hay cubes. Minimum of 13%-14% crude protein.
ITEM 8: CODE 549: BEEF GROWER / FINISHING RATION – BULK, PELLETED 5/32 INCH
SAME SPECIFICATIONS AS CODE 548
ITEM 9: CODE 570: CERVID SUPPLEMENTAL RATION – 50# BAGS, PELLETED 5/32 INCH
Formulated to meet the nutrient requirements of White-tail/Fallow Deer, Elk and Reindeer that are growing, pregnant, lactating or for maintenance as specified in: Nutrient Requirements of Small Ruminants: Sheep, Goats, Cervids, and New World Camelids (2007). NOTE: ANIMALS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO NATIVE FORAGE OR GOOD QUALITY HAY. Minimum of 19% crude protein.
ITEM 10: CODE 571: CERVID SUPPLEMENTAL RATION – BULK, PELLETED 5/32 INCH
SAME SPECIFICATIONS AS CODE 570
Feeds should not contain:
| 1. | Antibiotics |
| 2. | Hormones |
| 3. | Chemical growth promotants |
| 4. | Animal products or by-products |
| 5. | Bactericides, Bacteriostat or Cocidiostats |
If the mill to be used has processed feeds containing any of these materials prior to mixing Government feeds, it shall be flushed with at least two tons of feed which does not contain any of the above mentioned additives immediately before processing. This is to be done at the expense of the Contractor.
Quotes must include:
| 1. | Nutrient guaranteed analysis including vitamins and minerals |
| 2. | Listing of major ingredients |
| 3. | Feeding directions to meet specified requirements |
| 4. | Any precautions |
NOTE: Each bag shall contain a tag of the guaranteed analysis, ingredients, feeding instructions and must be labeled with the NADC feed code number and name of product as listed in above feeds required.
Deliveries shall be made to: USDA, ARS, MWA, NADC, 2300 Dayton Avenue, Building 13, Ames, Iowa 50010 between 12/10/2015 and 12/09/2020. Deliveries shall be made during normal business hours of 7:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. (CST) Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays. Deliveries will be made in clean, closed vehicles not used in the transportation of livestock. The Contractor shall assure that the material conforms to the specifications in the contract prior to delivery. Upon delivery, at destination, the Government reserves the right to reject any or all parts of a shipment, if in the opinion of the Government, does not meet the requirements contained herein. Bags that are torn so that contents are exposed on arrival at the NADC will not be accepted for use.
Each bag must be clearly marked with a date of manufacturing (milling date) and must be less than Thirty days from manufacture at delivery.
Bags shall be loaded and delivered on returnable or disposable pallets so that items can be unloaded by a Government Forklift Operator at the Government facility. If returnable pallets are used, they shall be provided at no additional cost to the Government and the Contractor shall be responsible for pick-up and return of these pallets after delivery.
The Contractor shall provide the Government with a certified copy of both the empty and loaded weight tickets, at the time of each delivery for all bulk feed deliveries, which must be obtained at an official weighing station with the firm’s name inscribed on the weigh ticket
A delivery ticket must accompany each order (allowing for a signature of person making the delivery and signature of Government personnel receiving the delivery).
The Contractor shall make deliveries within four (4) working days after receipt of a telephone or written order from an authorized Government employee. Partial deliveries of a minimum quantity may be requested.
