STATEMENT OF WORK
REPAVE SEVEN AREAS AT MAYAGUEZ
June 2, 2014
GENERAL
The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation and supervision to repave the required areas. Service shall be provided at 2200 Pedro Albizu Campos Avenue, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, 00680. Point of contact is Mr. Salvio Torres-Cardona, phone number (787) 831-3435 ext. 230.
Point of contact is to be contacted for any information concerning this work.
PURPOSE:
To ensure a smooth surface for use by pedestrians and vehicles.
SITE VISIT:
Bidders are encouraged to visit the site to prior to bid submittal. The site visit shall be for the purpose of measuring the actual area at each section, identify unstable areas, and to observe first hand any conditions relevant to the completion of this contract.
SCOPE OF WORK:
In each of the specified areas, the contractor shall:
Area 1 (approximately 3683 square yards):
1. Prepare the surface by brooming out all the loose surface material.
2. Correct all unstable areas by removing the existing loose sediment layer, and complete the grade preparation, including the application of 2” of Grade-1 filling material, leveling and compaction of the surface.
3. Prepare surface with a slight slope from side to side to avoid water accumulation on paved area.
4. Apply the primer oil to the surface to be paved.
5. Apply a 1.5” thick asphalt layer and compact as required.
Area 2 (approximately 3078 total square yards): At the residential area (North West section of the map) the area in concrete will not be required (see diagonal black lines in the map).
1. Prepare the surface by brooming out all the loose surface material.
2. Correct all unstable areas by removing the existing loose sediment layer, and complete the grade preparation, including the application of 2” of Grade-1 filling material, leveling and compaction of the surface.
3. Prepare surface with a slight slope from side to side to avoid water accumulation on paved area.
At the botanical garden (South West section of the map):
grade preparation, including the application of 2” of Grade-1 filling material, leveling and compaction of the surface.
3. At each area affected by roots (where the roots have damaged the asphalt), those roots and the existing asphalt must be removed, and the grade prepared per item 2 above.
4. Prepare surface with a slight slope from side to side to avoid water accumulation on paved area.
5. Apply the primer oil to the surface to be paved.
6. Apply a 1.5” thick asphalt layer and compact as required.
Area 3 (approximately 567 square yards):
1. Remove and dispose of the existing asphalt layer.
2. Complete the grade preparation, including the application of 2” of Grade-1 filling material, leveling and compaction of the surface.
3. Prepare surface with a slight slope from side to side to avoid water accumulation on paved area.
Area 4: Round Garden. This is an approximately 344 square yard concrete area:
1. Apply the primer oil to the surface to be paved.
2. Apply a 1.5” thick asphalt layer and compact as required.
Area 5: La Cuadra Road - The area of this portion is approximately 554 square yards:
grade preparation, including the application of 2” of Grade-1 filling material, leveling and compaction of the surface.
3. Prepare surface with a slight slope from side to side to avoid water accumulation on paved area.
Area 6: Las Gomez Road - This is a dirt road with an approximate area of 802 square yards:
1. Complete the grade preparation, including the application of 2” of Grade-1 filling material, leveling and compaction of the surface.
2. Prepare surface with a slight slope from side to side to avoid water accumulation on paved area.
3. Apply the primer oil to the surface to be paved.
4. Apply a 1.5” thick asphalt layer and compact as required.
5. Construct a shallow concrete gutter at one side of the road to catch the running water. The gutter dimensions shall be 481’ long x 24” wide x 6” deep.
Area 7: Cacao “Y” Detour - This is a dirt road with an approximate area of 257 square yards.
1. Complete the grade preparation, including the application of 2” of Grade-1 filling material, leveling and compaction of the surface.
2. Prepare surface with a slight slope from side to side to avoid water accumulation on paved area.
3. Apply the primer oil to the surface to be paved.
4. Apply a 1.5” thick asphalt layer and compact as required.
5. Construct a shallow concrete gutter at one side of the road at each leg of the “Y”, to catch the running water. The gutters’ dimensions shall be 65’ long x 24” wide x 6” deep and 20’ long x 24” wide x 6” deep. These two gutters must connect to a cross gutter which shall be 20’ long x 4’ wide x 6” deep.
QUOTATIONS:
A price must be submitted for each area, considering that the Agency might award only one, several or all areas at once.
