STATEMENT OF WORK

CAPE PERPETUA VISITOR CENTER HEATING SYSTEM UPGRADE

1. PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 PROJECT SUMMARY

A. This project consists of the removal of an existing obsolete Pace Electric Heating Unit (shown on Picture 1 and 2, government property) and the installation of a modern/efficient heat pump/air handler type unit. The project includes the installation or modification of all wiring and duct work required to produce a working unit to serve the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center (less the theater area which is served by a separate unit) located in Yachats, Oregon on the Central Coast Ranger District of the Siuslaw National Forest. The contract shall encompass all labor, parts, materials, and appurtenances required to provide climate control in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications for the unit installed.

B. After removal of the existing old Electric Heating unit and appurtenances, Contractor shall dispose of legally off Government Property.

C. Contractor shall place a concrete pad for the new heat system having dimensions of approximately 4ft by 4ft by 6 in. high with 4in of aggregate sub-base.

D. Work of this Contract shall include all electrical work and miscellaneous materials to yield a new heat pump and air handler that function efficiently and properly. The Contractor shall demonstrate the operation and maintenance of the new components to select Forest Service employees, as coordinated with the Contracting Officer (CO).

Prior to training the employees on the operation and maintenance of the new heating/cooling system, the Contractor shall ensure the system is functioning properly, then schedule the training at least seven (7) days in advance to allow all interested parties to attend the training.

E. Contractor shall:

1. Conduct a site visit to verify the sizing, compatibility, etc. of the duct system and heating/cooling system appurtenances prior to commencement of the work.

Coordinate the site visit with Craig Evans, Facilities Engineer for the Forest Service: (541) 750-7083.

2. Remove the existing duct system and appurtenances as shown in Picture 1 and

2. Contractor shall remove and legally dispose of all construction debris off Government property.

3. Install a new heat pump as described in the Specifications. This includes pouring a concrete pad to support the new heat pump.

a. Contractor shall remove and replace the existing intake duct; new intake shall be fabricated from heavy gauge galvanized steel that meets manufacturer standards for duct work materials.

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Provide manufacturer's catalog cut sheets to demonstrate full compliance with this Statement of Work for the heat pump and air handler to be provided.

B. Provide material certifications on the corrosion prevention coating to demonstrate full compliance with this Statement of Work.

2.02 AIR HANDLER

2.03 CORROSION PREVENTION COATING

3. PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.01 PREPARATION

A. Contractor is responsible for verifying on-site conditions to ensure that the work can be completed to meet this Statement of Work. In the event that any unforeseeable conditions are discovered that will prevent the work from being completed in accordance with this Statement of Work, notify the CO immediately and provide any information and/or costs as requested to resolve the issue.

B. The Contractor shall be responsible for locating and protecting existing structures and utilities during construction operations. In the event of damage to existing structures or utilities, stop all work associated with the damage, and immediately notify the CO.

Repair the damage as directed by the CO at the Contractor’s expense.

C. Notify the CO at least one week in advance of any construction operations that will cause disruption to normal business operations at the Visitor Center.

3.02 PROCEDURE

A. Remove and legally dispose of the existing electrical heater, air handler, and associated equipment as needed. Dispose of all materials, equipment, and construction debris legally off Government property.

B. Contractor shall preserve electrical cables if they are in good condition for the new heat pump otherwise Contractor shall replaced with new cables.

C. Contractor shall install new equipment per the manufacturer’s recommendations, as well as ensure that all work is done according to applicable codes, industry standards, and this Statement of Work. Where discrepancies exist between these specifications, the more stringent requirements shall apply.

D. Leave the job site in a safe, clean condition at the end of each work day.

4. PART 4 – MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

A. Measurement will be of the pay items listed below, completed and accepted according to the terms of this Statement of Work.

SECTION 01300

MOBILIZATION

1. PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 SCOPE

A. This work shall consist of preparatory work and operations necessary for the movement of personnel, equipment, supplies, labor, and incidentals to the project site, and for all other work and operations that must be performed or that cause costs to be incurred prior to beginning work on the various items on the project site. Bonding costs are included and paid under this section.

4.01 PROGRESS PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE AS FOLLOWS:

1. When 5 percent or more of the original contract amount is earned from other pay items, 50 percent of the amount for mobilization, or 5 percent of the original contract amount, whichever is less, will be paid.

2. When 10 percent or more of the original contract amount is earned from other pay items, 100 percent of the amount for mobilization, or 10 percent of the original contract amount, whichever is less, will be paid.

3. Upon completion of all work on the project, any unpaid amount for mobilization will be paid.

4. The total of all payments shall not exceed the original contract amount for this item.

SECTION 02318

EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL FOR UTILITIES

1. PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. This section specifies excavation and backfill for utilities for the new Heat Pump System if needed. This includes excavation; furnishing and placing of backfill material; disposal of excess or unsuitable backfill material(s); and grading.

B. Material to be excavated is unclassified.

1.02 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Contractor shall be responsible for locating, identifying, and protecting all underground utilities in the project areas.

2. PART 2 –PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS

A. Backfill Materials.

1. Backfill material shall contain no frozen or organic material.

2. Bedding Material.

a. Fine soil or sand, 100 percent passing the #4 sieve; or crushed rock less than 1/2 inch.

3. Bed crushed rock.

a. Crushed aggregate, meeting the requirements of AASHTO M147 grading

D.

4. Select material.

a. Fine soil or sand, 100 percent passing the #4 sieve.

5. Select Excavated Material.

a. Excavated material containing no rocks larger than 6 inches in largest dimension.

6. Topsoil.

a. Soil or loam containing no rock larger than 2 inches. Loam or excavated topsoil with no rocks larger than 2 inches in greatest dimension.

3. PART 3 –EXECUTION

3.01 EXCAVATION

A. Operations shall be in compliance with the requirements and restrictions of OSHA, and the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Code.

B. Over-excavation.

1. Restore to grade any over-excavation by backfilling with select material.

C. Salvage of Topsoil.

1. Excavate top 6 inches of surface material and stockpile separately for use as topsoil backfill material.

D. Unsuitable Material.

1. 1. Where unsuitable material is encountered in the trench bottom, as determined by the CO, excavate the trench below grade to the depth specified by the CO.

E. Excavated Material.

1. 1. Pile excavated material at the side of the trench where it will give the best protection for the work.

2. 2. Leave adequate space between the toe of the spoil pile and edge of trench to prevent material from falling into the trench.

F. Backfill.

1. Compact each lift with the required number of passes of a mechanical vibrating tamper over the entire layer.

a. Select Material.

i. Place in 6 inches lifts or less and compact with a minimum of 3 passes over the entire lift surface.

2. Bedding Material.

a. Place in lifts 4 inches or less in thickness and compact with a minimum of

3 passes over the entire lift surface.

3. Select Excavated Material.

a. Distribute large rocks so they are individually surrounded by fine materials.

i. Class B: Place in l2 inch lifts or less and compact each lift with 3 passes of tamper.

4. 5. Water compaction shall not be used.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. Contractor shall install approximately 30 feet of new electrical Line to support the new heat pump/air handler.

3.03 REPAIR/RESTORATION

A. Contractor shall be responsible for locating and protecting all existing underground utilities to remain.

B. Damage to existing underground utilities. Stop all work associated with damage to existing utilities, and notify the CO. Repair at Contractor's expense.

C. Surface Restoration. Restore all surfaces in kind and mound final un-compacted lift above finished grade.

D. Final Finish. After the utility installation and backfill has been completed, finish all disturbed areas, except trench area required to be mounded, to a smooth, uniform grade and texture, well blended to the original contours, showing minimum evidence of construction activity.

3.04 CLEANING

A. Disposal of Excess of Excavation and Unsuitable Material. Remove all excess or unsuitable material from the work area (except boulders), and legally dispose off Government property.

3.05 SCHEDULES

A. Backfill and restore surface materials of utility line trenches located in existing roadways, parking areas, and driveways, within 7 days after approval to place backfill by CO.

4. PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

A. Measurement and payment for the work under this Section will be considered incidental to the work in Section 03300 Cast-in-place Concrete.

SECTION 03100

CONCRETE FORMS AND ACCESSORIES

1. PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. This section specifies construction of concrete forms.

1.02 RELATED SECTIONS

2. PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS

A. Aggregate Base – supply and place crushed aggregate base under formwork.

1. Furnish crushed aggregate with a maximum size of 1 inch as determined by AASHTO T 27 and T 11.

2. See Section 03300 for aggregate base under concrete.

3. Furnish crushed aggregate uniformly graded from coarse to fine and free of organic matter, lumps or balls of clay, and other deleterious matter.

B. Plywood: B-B Plyform.

C. Steel.

1. Prefabricated.

D. Lumber.

1. Standard grade, (concealed surfaces only).

E. Form Ties and Spreaders.

1. Form Ties: Snap-off type, galvanized metal, fixed length, cone type, with waterproofing washer and leaving no metal within 1 inch of the concrete face.

1. Colorless mineral oil which will not stain concrete, or absorb moisture, or impair natural bonding or color characteristics of coating intended for use on concrete.

3.01 CONSTRUCTION

A. Construct forms to prevent leakage of mortar, and any shifting or deformation during the placement and finishing of concrete.

B. Wet forms to allow removal without damaging the concrete per manufacturer’s instructions.

C. Joints.

1. Arrange joints vertically or horizontally.

D. Inspection

1. Obtain CO inspection and approval of forms at least 4 hours prior to placing concrete. Notify CO at least 24 hours in advance of concrete pour that forms will be ready for inspection.

E. Cleaning

1. Remove all sawdust, shavings, and other debris from within the forms.

3.02 FORM REMOVAL

A. Do not disturb forms until concrete has gained enough strength to carry its own weight and such construction loads as may occur.

B. Loosen forms carefully. Do not wedge pry bars, hammers, or tools against finish concrete surfaces scheduled for exposure to view.

4. PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

4.01 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT

A. Measurement and payment for the work under this Section will be considered incidental to the work under Section 03300 – Cast-In-Place Concrete.

SECTION 03300

CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE

1. PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 SUMMARY

A. This section specifies cast-in-place concrete for a new heat pump. Contractor shall place a new concrete pad for the new heat pump system.

B. Provide and install approximately 4ft by 4ft by 6in deep concrete reinforced base with 4in sub-base ¾” minus gravel for the heat pump. The heat pump unit shall be mounted on the concrete pad according to the manufacture.

C. Concrete pad will be placed North side of the building under the viewing deck.

2.01 MATERIALS

C. Admixtures for Concrete.

1. Air-entraining admixtures - ASTM C260.

2. Water-reducing retarding admixtures - ASTM C494, Type D. Water-reducing, retarding admixtures may be used when approved by the CO. The time limit between batching and placing concrete may be extended up to an additional 2 hours. Use a quantity of admixture within the range of the manufacturer's recommendation. The amount of water may be reduced; other proportions shall remain the same.

3. Furnish the following information to the CO for approval:

a. Brand name of the admixture.

b. Amount of admixture, per cubic yard of concrete to be used.

c. Reason for requesting the use of the admixture.

D. Water.

1. Clear, clean, and suitable for domestic consumption.

2.02 CONCRETE MIX

A. Schedule - Concrete Types and Finishes.

1. Proportion concrete in accordance with ACI 318. The strength of concrete (f'c), air entrainment, slump, and finish meet the requirements below:

a. Structural Concrete /Foundation Walls.

B. Add air entraining agent to normal weight concrete mix for work exposed to exterior.

C. Proportioning Concrete for Cold Weather.

1. For concrete placed under "Cold Weather Concreting and Curing" condition, the Contractor may elect to alter the required proportions in one of the following ways:

a. Type III Portland Cement.

i. Type III Portland Cement may be substituted in equal quantities for Type I or II Portland Cement.

b. Additional Cement.

i. An additional sack per cubic yard of Type I or Type II Portland

Cement may be added.

D. Temperature Limits for Cold Weather Concrete.

1. Provide concrete having a minimum temperature of 50 degrees F and a maximum temperature of 90 degrees F at the time of placing. The temperature of the mixing water shall not exceed 140 degrees F. If aggregates are heated, heat uniformly with steam or water coil. Aggregate temperature shall not exceed 95 degrees F. Aggregate water mix temperature shall not exceed 80 degrees F. Do not use materials containing frost or icy lumps.

E. Proportioning Grout Fill.

1. Fine concrete aggregate with 3 sacks of cement per cubic yard and a maximum slump of 6 inches.

3. PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.01 MIXING

A. Project Batched and Mixed.

1. Batch and mix at project site.

2. Methods and apparatus used to batch the design mix will be reviewed for approval by the CO.

3. Mixer rated capacity not to be less than a 1 bag batch. Batch quantities requiring fractional bags will not be allowed.

4. Mix concrete a minimum period of 1-1/2 minutes after all materials are in the drum.

5. Hand Mixed.

6. Hand mixing may be allowed only upon written approval of the CO. Batches not to exceed 1/2 cubic yard in volume.

3.02 MIX ADJUSTMENTS

A. After the mix period but no later than 15 minutes from start of mixing, water may be added once for purposes of acquiring minimum slump, provided specified water-cement ratio is not exceeded. Adding water beyond these conditions constitutes retempering which will not be allowed. When water is added, an additional 20 revolutions at mixing speed is required.

B. Air-entraining admixtures will not be allowed to be added after the start of mixing for purposes of acquiring minimum air content.

3.03 CONCRETE PLACEMENT

A. The concrete surface shall have a broomed finish, with a smooth finish along the perimeter.

B. The transition between concrete foundation and the existing site shall be smooth – free of gaps and sharp changes in elevation.

C. Notify CO a minimum of 24 hours prior to placement.

D. Convey concrete from a mixer to the forms as near final position as practical in a manner which will prevent segregation or loss of materials.

E. Immediately after placing, thoroughly compact concrete with mechanical vibrators.

Provide minimum of 1 vibrators. Provide minimum of 1 power sources unless commercial power is available at site. Hand tamping or "spudding" when permitted, will be approved in writing by the CO.

F. Do not drop concrete freely from higher than 4 feet above the surface of concrete being poured.

G. Do not place concrete in water or allow water to rise over freshly placed concrete until a set is sufficient to prevent damage.

3.04 PROTECTION FROM RAINFALL

A. Protect flat work during periods of precipitation with adequate waterproof covering.

Support covering so that finishing may be performed and initial set obtained without damage. Dragging of tarpaulins or other covering across unset concrete will not be permitted.

3.05 CURING

A. Commence curing and protection of concrete immediately after placing. Cure Type I and Type II Portland Cement 7 days continuously and Type III Portland Cement 3 days continuously by one of the following methods:

B. Water Curing.

a. Keep all surfaces of concrete and forms left on concrete wet. Shade concrete from sun with covering material or with sand or sawdust on slab, March 2, 2011 Cape Perpetua Visitor Center Heating System Upgrade 18/28 except during periods of required finishing. Use of sprinklers or flooding is permitted on slabs.

2. Membrane Curing.

a. Liquid membrane-forming material may be used for curing at the

Contractor's option, except on slabs receiving resilient floorings.

Complete required surface finish prior to application of curing compound;

use water curing during finishing period. Spray material to surface at the rate of 1 gallon per 300 square feet in 2 applications, resulting in a coverage of 1 gallon per 150 square feet. Apply first coat immediately after acceptance of finish. Thoroughly wet concrete with water and apply material just as surface film of water disappears. Apply second coat after first application has set. Recoat any rupture to the membrane seal immediately or use water cure method.

3.06 COLD WEATHER CONCRETING AND CURING

A. When descending air temperature at the project falls below 40 degrees F the Contractor may at their option, continue concreting under conditions stated below.

Normal concreting operations may resume when the temperature at the site exceeds 40 degrees F.

B. Provide cover and heating equipment sufficient to maintain the temperature of the concrete at not less than 50 degrees F for a period of 3 days for Type I and Type II cement. Maintain the temperature at not less than 50 degrees F for a period of 2 days for Type III cement or when one additional sack of Type I or Type II cement is added.

C. Provide additional protection to prevent the concrete temperature from dropping more then 40 degrees F in the 24 hour period following the required protection period.

D. Keep all surfaces of concrete and any forms remaining on concrete wet. Remove and replace any concrete injured by frost and freezing as directed by the CO.

4. PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

4.01 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT

A. Measurement for cast-in-place concrete and associated work, including aggregate base, at Huss Ridge will include all labor and materials necessary to complete the work in accordance with this Specification. Erection of the radio tower will also be included in this pay item.

4.02 BASIS OF PAYMENT

A. The accepted work will be paid for at the Contract unit price for the quantity of concrete placed, as shown on the Schedule of Items.

SECTION 16010

GENERAL TECHNICAL PROVISIONS

1. PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTION

A. This project consists of electrical upgrades for a new heat pump system for an existing building and includes but is not limited to the following and all additional accessories required.

B. Furnish all labor and material necessary for the installation, connection, testing for the new heat pump system and adjustment of all circuits and electrical equipment specified herein, shown, or noted on the drawings, specified or required in other portions of this specification and delivered to the Government as a complete installation in all respects ready for use.

C. Coordinate all sections of Division 16 within the division and with all other divisions. All general technical provisions apply to all sections of this division.

D. The Contractor will furnish all labor, equipment, and all other materials required for complete installation of wiring including the repair and restoration of existing facilities required to be modified for the specified electrical installation.

1.02 RELATED SECTIONS

1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Codes and Standards: All materials shall conform to the applicable current standards (standard rules, regulations and specifications), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Insulated Power Cable Engineers Association (IPCEA), National Electric Code (NEC). All materials shall bear the label of, or be listed by, the Underwriter's Laboratory, Inc., (U.L.). Where conflicts exist between any of the above standards, the standard which is most stringent shall take precedence.

B. Resolve all conflicts with applicable regulations. Prepare and submit to the CO all additional clarifying details including substitute methods and materials as needed to secure the required approval and resolve conflicts.

C. All work shall be done by electricians licensed by the state of Oregon.

D. Inspections: Arrange for all inspections of the work by the local or state authority having jurisdiction over the construction. Final inspection and acceptance of the work will be made only after all certificates of inspections, including final certificate of acceptance of the work by the inspection authority have been forwarded to the CO.

E. Accepted Manufacturers: Where equipment is specified to be of certain manufacturer, similar equipment of other manufacturers normally engaged in this type of manufacture may be substituted. Substituted equipment shall comply with the specification. Furnish equipment performing the same function and rating of the same manufacturer throughout the job.

1.04 DRAWINGS

A. Install materials and equipment to conform to the available space. Maintain required accessibility and clearances, and satisfy the requirements of the governing codes.

B. Electrical drawings and layout may not necessarily suit the requirement of the particular manufacturer's equipment, which is installed. Modify wiring and location as required for proper installation.

C. Submit proposed modification to CO for approval and note change on record drawings prior to making such modification.

1.05 MATERIAL SUBMITTALS

A. Submit two sets of catalog cuts of the manufacturer's installation, operating and maintenance instructions for all material and equipment requiring submittals in each section of Division 16 to the CO, according to the Supplemental General Provisions.

B. Obtain written approval for the above submittals prior to construction, assembly, and delivery.

C. Furnish complete material submittals where possible. Partial submittals will be considered only to allow timely ordering of equipment.

D. Submittals shall have sufficient detail to determine if ratings, characteristics, and physical construction are equivalent to those specified.

E. Where manufacturer's catalog sheets are used, indicate the specific items to be supplied in ink either by arrow, encircled on the sheet, or the inapplicable portion blocked out. List manufacturer's name, contract, section and drawing sheet reference number on each catalog sheet. Identify where equipment is to be used, if not obvious.

F. Submittals shall show any changes to be made resulting from substitution of equipment or materials for those that are specified.

G. Make complete submittals of all equipment within 10 calendar days of notice to proceed.

1.06 DELIVERY AND STORAGE

A. Deliver and store materials in original containers, protected from the elements and theft, and accessible for inspection.

B. Store items subject to moisture damage in a dry, heated place.

C. Protect material against dirt, water, chemical or mechanical injury.

1.07 INSPECTIONS AND TESTS

A. At the final inspection, conduct tests to determine that a complete workable electrical system has been installed conforming to the drawings, applicable codes, and specifications. (See 16010, 16050, and Testing)

1.08 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

A. After completion and testing of the work, instruct the COR in operation and maintenance of the electrical system.

2. PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 GENERAL

A. See Section: 16050 Basic Materials and Methods.

B. Provide all products shown complete with accessories and mounting materials.

3. PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 GENERAL

A. Follow manufacturer's directions in delivery, storage, protection and installation of equipment and materials.

B. Notify CO of any conflicts between manufacturer's instructions and contract documents.

3.02 WIRING METHODS

A. Wiring: Install all wiring for the new heat pump system, etc., in metal raceway and metal flexible conduit unless otherwise specified or shown on the drawings.

B. Installation: Install equipment and materials, align, level and adjust for satisfactory operation. Install equipment so that all parts are easily accessible for inspection, operation, maintenance and repair.

C. Equipment Mounting:

1. Position : Center all wiring with regard to building lines, furring and trim.

D. Metallic Raceways: Install all power and control wiring in metallic raceways unless otherwise shown on the drawings. Install raceways concealed unless otherwise shown.

3.03 PROTECTION

A. Cap raceways immediately upon rough-in. Utilize temporary plastic caps designed for the purpose.

3.04 RACEWAY INSTALLATION

A. Install raceways as follows unless otherwise shown or specified.

B. Offset raceways into outlets and enclosures.

C. Underside of exposed beams shall not be saddled.

D. Use one hole cast malleable iron conduit clamps or beam clamps on exposed conduit.

Provide with screw of proper length.

E. Thoroughly clean the interior of all underground conduits and other raceways of all foreign material by compressed air or swabbing. All exposed conduit shall be clean and in new condition free of dents and machine markings.

F. Fluorescent, High Pressure Sodium, Mercury Vapor, Metal Halide Fixture Termination: Terminate fixtures in flexible metal conduit between J-Box and fixtures unless otherwise shown.

3.05 WIRE NUMBERS

A. Label all branch circuits in power distribution panels and all junction boxes with numbers corresponding to circuit numbers.

1. Wire numbers shall correspond to control panel schematic and wiring diagram's external connection terminal numbers.

B. Contractor shall provide motor disconnects, where specified, shown or required by code, under this division of the specifications.

3.06 FINAL TESTS

A. Perform all tests in the presence of the COR. Upon completion of all tests, submit written test results in duplicate for approval by the COR prior to acceptance.

B. Final Corrections:

1. Correct promptly any failure or defects revealed by these tests and reconduct tests on these corrected items. Make any final adjustments for optimum operation of all equipment.

4. PART 4 – MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

4.01 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT

A. No separate payment will be made for work included under this Section. Payment for this work will be included in the Contract unit price under Section 16050.

SECTION 26116

SINGLE OR DUAL-CHANNEL SURFACE RACEWAY

1. PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SCOPE

A. This specification covers a surface metal raceway system used for branch circuit and/or data network voice, video, and other low-voltage wiring. The surface metal raceway system shall consist of raceway base, cover, appropriate fittings, and device mounting plates necessary to complete the installation per electrical drawings.

1.02 CLASSIFICATION AND USE

A. Surface metal raceway is for use in dry interior locations only as covered in Article 386 of the National Electrical Code. 4000 Surface Metal Raceway and fittings are listed by Underwriters Laboratories under File Number E4376, Listing & Classification Guide Number RJBT and File Number E41751, Listing & Classification Number RJPR respectively. All in accordance with publication UL 5 for Surface Metal Raceways.

2. PART 2 PRODUCT

2.01 MANUFACTURER

A. The surface metal raceway specified herein shall be either G4000 gray or V4000 ivory finish as stated on approval drawings and manufactured by The Wiremold Company. Systems of other manufacturers may be considered if equal, by written approval of the specifying engineer and shall meet all the performance standards specified herein.

2.02 MATERIALS

A. The raceway and all the system components must be UL Listed. Steel shall be galvanized. Finish may be either gray or ivory ScuffCoat™ (a polyester topcoat over ivory base) and shall be suitable for field repainting to match surroundings.

2.03 RACEWAY

A. The raceway shall be of a two-piece design with a metal base and snap-on metal cover. Base shall be a minimum of 0.050" [1.3mm] wall thickness and cover shall be a minimum of 0.040" [1mm] wall thickness. Assembled base and cover shall be 4.750" [12mm] wide by 1.750" [45mm] high with a cross section area of 7.50 square inches [484mm2]. Base shall be dividable by means of a removable barrier section into two equal compartments. A cutting tool shall be available for the base and cover to ensure clean, square cuts.

B. A full line of fittings must be available including but not limited to flat, internal and external elbows, couplings for joining raceway sections, wire clips, blank end fitting and a full compliment of device mounting brackets and plates. The fittings shall be colored to match the raceway.

2.04 FITTINGS

A. A full complement of fittings must be available including, but not limited to flat, internal and external elbows, tees, entrance fittings, wire clips, cover clips, couplings, support clips, c-hangers and end caps. The fittings shall be ivory, gray or custom colors to match the raceway. All fittings shall be supplied with a base where applicable to eliminate mitering. A take-off fitting shall be available to adapt to existing flush wall boxes and to other series raceways manufactured by The Wiremold Company.

3. PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. Installer shall comply with detailed manufacturer’s instruction sheets, which accompany system components, as well as complete system instruction sheets, whichever is applicable.

3.02 MECHANICAL SECURITY

A. All raceway systems shall be mechanically continuous and connected to all electrical outlets, boxes, device mounting brackets, and cabinets, also in accordance with manufacturer’s installation sheets.

3.03 ELECTRICAL SAFETY

A. All metal raceway shall be electrically continuous and bonded in accordance with the National Electric Code for proper grounding.

3.04 RACEWAY SUPPORT

A. Raceway shall be securely supported at intervals not exceeding 10' [3m] or in accordance with manufacturer’s installation sheets.

3.05 COMPLETENESS

A. All raceway systems shall be installed complete, including insulating bushings and inserts where required by manufacturer’s installation sheets. All unused raceway openings shall be closed.

4. PART 4 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

4.01 RACEWAY
