Chipper Specifications

General

· The engine shall be a minimum of 74 horsepower, liquid cooled, and run on diesel fuel. Fuel tank capacity should be a minimum of 25 gallons.

· Weight of the entire unit shall be no more than 4995 lbs.

· Length of unit shall be no more than 12.5 ft. while in transport position and not exceed an overall length of 16.5’.

· Height of the machine shall not exceed 101”.

· Tongue weight shall not exceed 600 lbs.

Cutting System

· Drum style with a minimum drum size of 20” in diameter, 20” in width and 1.5” sidewalls. Drum shall weigh a minimum of 460 lbs. and have at least a two position safety lock.

· Minimum of 2 knives with at least 4 bolts per knife. Minimum knife size of 4.5” by 9” with a minimum thickness of .6”. Knives should be onstructed of A8 chipper steel. Knives will have a minimum of two useable edges.

Feed/Discharge System

· Infeed minimum throat opening of 12” by 17”

· Feed table length minimum shall be 66.5” from the feed roller nip point to the end of the table.

· 1 horizontal feed roller with a minimum diameter of 20” and a minimum width of 17”.

· Minimum height of the feed roller table shall be 26” from the ground.

· The minimum infeed rate shall be 118 ft. per minute.

· Discharge chute must be no less than 101” high.

· Chute rotation must be limited to 270˚ rotation and controlled with a minimum of two handles. Minimum number of locking positions shall be 27.

· Unit shall be equipped with engine speed monitoring system. The system should automatically control the feeding of material into the machine according to the engine RPM. The system should have the ability to reverse material automatically and in turn restart the feeding process without any operator interface. This will allow us to feed the machine a wide variety of materials, from brush to logs at the same time.

Safety Features

· Need to have bottom feed stop bar or some other type of advanced safety shut off system. Advanced safety system shall have a minimum of two sensitivity settings.

Miscellaneous Information

· Dealer/Service Location: Need to have a dealer/service location within 80 miles of Ukiah, OR. For a fast turn-around time for all servicing and repair work that may be needed.

· Deliver within 30 days from receipt of official order. Delivery is to the USDA Forest Service, Umatilla National Forest, North Fork John Day Ranger District in Ukiah Oregon.

· 48 hours prior to delivery of equipment, vendor shall call the Forest Service.

· Delivery charge shall be included in the price.

· List of characteristics, brochures, etc shall be attached to the SF-1449 for review.
