SECTION 01010
SUMMARY of work
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 summary
A. This project is located at the Priest Lake Ranger Station and shall consist of the following:
Remove the existing membrane roofing system down to the original asphalt roof (including insulation materials) and dispose of properly IAW all Federal, State and Local requirements. Provide CO with copies of all disposal receipts.
The roof is not believed to contain asbestos; however, contractor shall take appropriate samples and have those sections tested for Asbestos Containing Materiels (ACM). ACM test results shall be provided to the Contracting Officer immediately upon receipt.
Prepare the roof, and provide and install 2-ply GAF Liberty SBS Roofing System (or approved equivalent), submitted in accordance with Specification 7550 Provide a minimum Fifteen (15) year warranty with no monetary limitation where the manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components in the roofing system which cause a leak due to failure in materials or workmanship
1.2 GENERAL SITE CONDITIONS AND WEATHER

A. The elevation of the site is approximately 2,700 feet above mean sea level. Summer temps are in the 40s at night and 80s during the day.

1.3 USE OF PREMISES

A. General: Contractor shall have full use of premises for construction operations, including use of Project site, during construction period. Contractor's use of premises is limited only by the Government's right to perform work or to retain other contractors on portions of Project.
B. Contractor shall at all times conduct his operations to ensure the least inconvenience to the public and employees. Building 2204 closures will be permitted, when required, upon written approval of the Contracting Officer (CO).
C. Confine storage of materials to areas as approved by the CO.
D. Contractor shall provide adequate signing and barricades and take necessary safety measures to protect Forest Service employees and the public during all construction operations. Contractor shall minimize disturbance of all undisturbed areas.
E. Preservation of Natural Features: Confines all operations to work limits of the project. Prevent damage to natural surroundings. Restore damaged areas, repairing or replacing damaged trees and plants, at no additional expense to the Government.
1. Provide temporary barriers to protect existing trees and plants and root zones.
2. Do not remove, injure, or destroy trees or other plants without prior approval. Consult with CO and remove agreed-on roots and branches that interfere with construction.
3. Do not fasten ropes, cables, or guys to existing trees.
4. Carefully supervise excavating, grading, filling, and other construction operations near trees to prevent damage.
F. Existing Utilities: Notify CO and utility companies of proposed locations and times for excavation.
1. Contractor shall be responsible for locating and preventing damage to known utilities. If damage occurs, repair utility at no additional expense to the Government.
2. Interruption of Existing Utility Service: Notify CO, 48 hours in advance of any interruption of existing utilities.

1.4 MEALS AND LODGING
A. N/A.
1.5 camping
A. With approval by the Priest Lake Ranger District, National Forest Service lands may be used by the Contractor to have one fully contained recreation vehicle which may remain at this site for security.
1.6 construction sequence
A. There is no specified construction sequence or season for this project, other than those implied in other Specifications.
B. Depending on conditions, normal fire restrictions may apply to activities associated with this project.
1.7 Field verification
A. Field verify all new and existing dimensions affecting the work of this contract before ordering products.
1.8 permits
A. Special permits for construction work, electrical work or any other permits required by County, State, or Federal laws or regulations shall be obtained by the Contractor before that segment of work commences.
