About this file
This document provides specifications for a federal contract opportunity for power cable issued by the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime. The solicitation seeks bids for 4 conductor, 500 foot rolls of copper type W cable rated for 90 degrees Celsius and 2000 volts. The cable is required to have the manufacturer, size, number of conductors, temperature rating and voltage embossed or indented on the surface at intervals no more than 24 inches. The document includes a question from a supplier regarding whether indent stamping rather than embossing of identification marks is acceptable given that indent marks will not scrape or rub off as easily as embossed marks. Clarification is requested on whether the indent method meets the military's needs or if embossing is required.

TF CABLE PN - W4-4 ADDED DATA -"1-The number of conductors and the size of the conductors is marked on the cable.
2-They are not embossed but Indent Stamped which to me means that they will always be on the cable and they will not scrape or rub off as will the Embossed type. That comes from many years of selling all types of cables.
If the Indent Method vs. the Embossed Method is not suitable for the Yards need, please tell me why.
The Print Wheel to Emboss Print is relatively inexpensive compared to losing the entire order."
