About this file
This document contains a justification for a sole source acquisition under the simplified acquisition threshold. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Klamath Falls Fish and Wildlife Office requires water quality probes that can interface with their existing equipment and calibration solutions to maintain continuity of scientific data collection. The probes must be lightweight for spot checks, support multiple sensors, and be user friendly with the existing software and IT support. While other manufacturers produce similar probes, they would not be compatible with the office's existing supplies. YSI has been the standard in the water quality equipment industry for decades and offers high quality control with strong customer service support. The contracting officer determined the anticipated cost from YSI would be fair and reasonable based on prior acquisition history and commercial price lists.

| Text3: Eureka or OTT HydroMet could possibly provide the resources we need, however, they will not interface with the equipment that we already own. | |
| Text2: There are other manufacturers of produce discrete water quality sampling probes and sensors. One of the companies is OTT HydroMet. This company produces sondes that can take different sensors, however, there are no prices shown online, we already have supplies for YSI including calibration solutions, oils for lubrication, and seals. There are also Eureka water quality probes, but once again there is not enough information online to allow us to properly determine if the Manta +20 fits our needs. There are also no prices shown, and we have supplies that support YSI products already. | |
| Text1: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Klamath Falls Fish and Wildlife Office is in need of water quality probes that interface with the support that we already have and the calibration solutions we currently use. This will support continuity of scientific data. We also need water quality probes that are lightweight, can be used for spot checks, have the ability to handle multiple different sensors, that is user friendly, is usable with current software, and has IT support. | |
| Text4: USFWS welcomes competition from vendors to provide specific products needed for a project. However, for this project, we already have supplies that will work with the requested product which will save time and funds. | |
| Text6: (Include a statement by the contracting officer that the anticipated cost will be considered fair and reasonable and provide the basis used for this determination. Examples may include the results of the restricted competition, comparison of proposed costs/prices with costs/prices for similar supplies or services, commercial price lists, prior acquisition history, etc.) | |
