Salient Characteristics

PADLOCK, LONG SHACKLE with CHAIN The USGS Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) at Stennis Space Center, MS needs to purchase long shackle padlocks with chains.

These padlocks will be used by USGS Water Mission Area field offices in harsh outside environments to secure government owned equipment and shelters at remote locations.

These padlocks must be capable of withstanding water, ice, dirt, dust, and debris.

BODY MUST:

Be laminated brass.

SHACKLE MUST:

Be hardened steel.

Be a minimum diameter of 5/16 inch (8mm).

Be a minimum of 2-1/2 inches (64mm) vertical clearance.

Be a minimum of 3/4 inch (19mm) horizontal clearance.

CHAIN & COLLAR MUST:

Be installed on shackle, non-opening side.

Be zinc plated steel.

Be a minimum of 9 inches long (229mm).

Include collar and mounting plate, and screws

LOCK MECHANISM MUST:

Be non-rekeyable.

Be a 4 pin cylinder.

Be capable of removing key in the unlocked position.

Be capable of being keyed to USGS standard key, Master Lock number 2640.

KEY MUST:

Be brass or bronze material.

Be keyed to USGS standard key, Master Lock number 2640.

Include 2 keys with each lock.

SPECIFICALLY INCLUDES:

Master Lock 2KALJCN or equal.
