Salient Characteristics

SENSOR

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

6 EA, Acoustic Backscatter Sensor:

1. Shall be capable of measuring suspended sediment concentration.

2. Shall be no larger than 2-inch diameter (5.08cm) by 13.25 inches long (33.65cm).

3. Shall be made of ABS plastic making it resistant and have a high tolerance to biofouling.

4. Shall have outputs in analog voltage, RS-232, or SDI-12 with one underwater connector at 1 second, continuous, or polled intervals.

5. Shall be factory calibrated within +/- 30% over a size range of 30 to 400 microns or better.

6. Shall be buoyant with a maximum weight no more than 0.5 pounds in water.

7. Shall have a maximum current drain of 100 mA or better.

8. Shall have transducer that is ceramic and no larger than 10mm diameter.

9. Shall operate in a frequency range of 8 MHz.

10. Shall operate within 11-18 VDC external power source/data storage range.

11. Shall provide a sample update rate of 1Hz or better.

12. Shall be compatible with Acoustic Backscatter Sensor above.

13. Shall have integrated USB adapter allowing the sensor above to be powered from PC USB port.

4 EA, 20 M Cable:

14. Shall be communication and power cable for Acoustic Backscatter Sensor above.

15. Shall be at least 20 meters long.

16. Sold by the meter.

2 EA, 35 M Cable:

17. Shall be communication and power cable for Acoustic Backscatter Sensor above.

18. Shall be at least 35 meters long.

19. Sold by the meter.

1 EA, Particle Size Analyzer Sensor:

20. Shall be a submersible, laser diffraction type instrument used to measure particle size and concentration of suspended sediments in rivers, streams, and other water bodies.

21. Shall measure particle size, depth, temperature, optical transmission, volume concentration, and volume scattering parameters, at a minimum.

22. Shall have 12 VDC nominal, 8-24 VDC power input.

23. Shall be capable of measuring particle size distribution from 1.0 to at least 500 µm in 36 size ranges.

24. Shall be capable of optical transmission concentration from 0.3 to at least 0.99 (30-99%).

25. Shall be capable of sampling at the rate of up to 1 Hz.

26. Shall be capable of concentration from at least 0.5-700 mg/l (grain-size dependent).

27. Shall be capable of optical transmission at a minimum of 0.1% resolution.

28. Shall be capable of temperature measurements at a minimum of 0.01 deg C resolution.

29. Shall be capable of volume concentration at a minimum of 0.1 µl/l resolution.

30. Shall be capable of reporting Mean Size and Total Concentrations as analog voltage outputs.

31. Shall have at least 1 GB for data storage.

32. Shall have small-angle forward scattering feature.

33. Shall have at least a 25 mm optical path

34. Shall be capable of measuring depth to at least 600 m with at least 0.01 m resolution.

35. Shall be compatible with Particle Size Analyzer Sensor above.

36. Shall allow the optics end of the instrument to be submerged horizontally on a test bench.

37. Shall be capable of obtaining clean water backgrounds with the Path Reduction Module installed.

1 EA, Optical Path Reduction Module:

38. Shall be compatible with Particle Size Analyzer Sensor above.

39. Shall reduce the optical path in the field without the need for permanent optical path reductions.

40. Shall extend the concentration range by a factor of at least 5.

41. Shall include fused quartz cylinder and mounting hardware.

1 EA, Flow Through Chamber:

42. Shall be compatible with Particle Size Analyzer Sensor above.

43. Shall be a flow through chamber that allows pumped water to pass through the optics of the sensor.

44. Shall include barb fittings for ½-inch inside diameter tubing that is compatible with standard ½-inch National Pipe Thread fittings.

45. Shall be compatible with Particle Size Analyzer Sensor above.

46. Shall divert the water thru optical path when the sensor to be pointed into the flow of water.

48. Shall have integrated USB adapter allowing the sensor above to be powered from PC USB port.
