Salient Characteristics

S21041

SENSOR

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

Sensor:

1. Shall be a submersible, laser diffraction type instrument used to measure particle size and concentration of suspended sediments in rivers, streams, and other water bodies.

2. Shall measure particle size, depth, temperature, optical transmission, volume concentration, and volume scattering parameters, at a minimum.

3. Shall have 12 VDC nominal, 8-24 VDC power input.

4. Shall be capable of measuring particle size distribution from 1.0 to at least 500 µm in 36 size ranges.

5. Shall be capable of optical transmission concentration from 0.3 to at least 0.99 (30-99%).

6. Shall be capable of sampling at the rate of up to 1 Hz.

7. Shall be capable of concentration from at least 0.5-700 mg/l (grain-size dependent).

8. Shall be capable of optical transmission at a minimum of 0.1% resolution.

9. Shall be capable of temperature measurements at a minimum of 0.01 deg C resolution.

10. Shall be capable of volume concentration at a minimum of 0.1 µl/l resolution.

11. Shall be capable of reporting Mean Size and Total Concentrations as analog voltage outputs.

12. Shall have at least 1 GB for data storage.

13. Shall have small-angle forward scattering feature.

14. Shall have at least a 25 mm optical path

15. Shall be capable of measuring depth to at least 600 m with at least 0.01 m resolution.

Cable:

16. Shall be communication and power cable for sensor above.

17. Shall be at least 32 meters long.

18. Sold by the meter.

Optical Path Reduction Module:

19. Shall be compatible with sensor above.

20. Shall reduce the optical path in the field without the need for permanent optical path reductions.

21. Shall extend the concentration range by a factor of at least 5.

22. Shall include fused quartz cylinder and mounting hardware.

Optic Scoop:

23. Shall be compatible with sensor above.

24. Shall divert the water thru optical path when the sensor to be pointed into the flow of water.

Anti-Fouling Copper Shutter:

25. Shall be compatible with sensor above to reduce biofouling.

Test Chamber:

26. Shall be compatible with sensor above.

27. Shall allow the optics end of the instrument to be submerged horizontally on a test bench.

28. Shall be capable of obtaining clean water backgrounds with the Path Reduction Module installed.

Sensor and Small Battery Mounting Frame:

29. Shall be compatible with sensor above.

30. Shall be stainless steel.

31. Shall include bridle and set of two (2) small battery housing clamps.

Connector Base Cable:

32. Shall be compatible with sensor above.

33. Shall have integrated USB adapter allowing the sensor above to be powered from PC USB port.

Cable:

34. Shall be compatible with sensor above.

35. Shall be at least 32 meters long.

36. Sold by the meter.

Connector Base Cable:

37. Shall be compatible with sensor above.

38. Shall include Molex base.
