The Adobe Mountains treatment area consists of many hills with drainages and draws that hold intermittently flowing streams. Terrain varies from flat 2% slopes in valley bottoms to steep hill sides with 15-35% slopes. Soil types in the area are a silty sand soil and cobbly silt soil. Elevation ranges from 5500 to 6900 Feet. Vegetation consists of semi-dense stands of Wyoming sagebrush and rabbitbrush shrublands, mixed perennial bunchgrasses and native forbs, cheatgrass and invasive, annual forbs. Two track roads (both marked and unmarked) are widespread throughout the entire treatment area. The steeper slopes may necessitate backpack spraying.

If water is present during the time of application, the buffers for non-aquatically formulated herbicides will be maintained at 10 feet for application by handgun and 25 feet for application with boom equipment. Spraying up to the water’s edge (within the buffer) will require use of aquatic herbicide formulation and surfactant.
