STATEMENT OF WORK
Mowing, Trimming and Weeding Davis Bayou Area, Gulf Islands National Seashore
1. SCOPE OF WORK
The work to be done under this contract consists of furnishing all labor, supervision, equipment, fuel, transportation, tools and supplies necessary for mowing, edging, weeding, blowing, and trimming in the Davis Bayou Area, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Mississippi District. Throughout the mowing season, additional area closed to mowing will be marked with red flagging.
The limits of all areas to be worked include all unshaded areas within the shaded boundaries shown on the area maps contained in Attachment B for each of the following areas:
Area 1, Picnic Area (Approx. 10 Acres)
MOWING: Grass shall be cut every two weeks to a height of 1 ½ to 2 1/2 inches.
(a) All grass areas up to the edge of woods except the ball field;
(b) From the Hanley Road pedestrian entrance to the picnic area: all grass from the path edge to 10 feet or to the edge of the woods which ever is less. Cut triangular area having approximately 450 square feet on the West Side of entrance around entrance sign and fence.
(c) Around circle turn around; all grass from road edge to 4 feet or tree line.
(d) Mower discharge must be directed away from all shelters and picnic table pads and roadsides.
(e) All table pads must be mowed four feet beyond pad edges.
TRIMMING:
(a) The edges of grassed areas adjacent to vertical surfaces such as walls, foundations, buildings, trees, poles, fireplugs, signs, and fences shall be trimmed every two weeks.
Blowing:
(a) Contractor will be responsible for mower discharge that enters inside picnic pavilions, walkways, basketball courts and table pads.
SWEEPING / WEEDING / EDGING:
NONE
Area 2, Campground Area (Approx. 4 acres)
MOWING: Grass shall be cut every two weeks to a height of 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches.
(a) All grass areas on either side of the road and up to the edge of woods.
(b) Do not mow behind the trash dumpster beside campsite 51.
(c) Do not mow further than 50 feet from the back of the asphalt pad on campsite 38.
(d) Grass areas around utilities on back loop.
(e) Mower discharge must be directed away from roadside and parking pads.
(f) Grass must be cut eight feet beyond all camper parking spaces or to the edge of woods.
TRIMMING:
(a) The edges of grassed areas adjacent to vertical surfaces such as walls, foundations, buildings, trees, poles, fireplugs, signs, campsites and fences shall be trimmed every four weeks. Note: Provide a trimmed path 3’ wide path to fireplug located between sites 23 and 24.
Blowing:
(a) Contractor will be responsible for all discharge that is directed towards parking areas and roadways.

Area 3, Ranger Residence and Public Boat Launch Area (Approx.
4 Acres)
Mowing: Grass shall be cut every two weeks to a height of 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches.
(a) South side of Hanley Road from road edge to tree line, around picnic shelter.
(b) South side of Hanley Road from tree line to boat launch road. From road edge to 40 feet.
(c) Along the West Side of the boat launch road to the boat launch, all grass from the road edge to 20 feet.
(d) Along Hanley Road and along the East Side of the boat launch road to the ranger residence corridor; all the grass from the road edge to 20 feet.
(e) All grass in the cabin corridors from the road edge to cabins. The cabin corridor is defined as 15 feet from the north and south sides of the cabin.
(f) Along the East Side of boat launch road from the ranger residence to mow area to the turn around; all grass from the road edge to 20 feet or the edge of the woods.
(g) All grass located on the west side in group area to the woods edge.
(h) All grass areas adjacent to parking and boat launch facilities.
NOTE: This does not include the grass area around the shelled parking area south east of the public boat launch.
(i) Mower discharge must be directed away from buildings, road and parking areas.
TRIMMING:
(a) The edges of grassed areas adjacent to vertical surfaces such as walls, foundations, buildings, trees, poles, and signs shall be trimmed every two weeks.
BLOWING:
(a) Contractor will be responsible for discharge that is directed towards parking areas and roadways.

Area 5, Visitor Center Area (Approx. 8 Acres)
MOWING: Grass shall be cut every two weeks to a height of 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches.
(a) All grass areas up to the edge of woods.
(b) All grass in flagpole area.
(c) All grass areas adjacent to path to the picnic area and the picnic area.
(d) On East Side of picnic area parking, cut from road edge to 10’.
(e) Mower discharge must be directed away from buildings, parking areas, sidewalks, and from roadsides.
BLOWING / SWEEPING / EDGING
(a) Sidewalks, curbs and parking areas shall be blown or swept of debris every two weeks if discharged is allowed to enter onto these areas.
Sidewalks and curbs will be edged every four weeks.
WEEDING
(a) Ivy, Saw Palmetto and shrubbery bushes (not in no mow area) around flag pole and Visitor Center shall be weeded once every four weeks.
This may require a minimum amount of hand weeding.
NOTE: The “DIAMOND” SHAPED FLOWERBED BETWEEN
THE SIDEWALKS IN FRONT OF THE VISITOR CENTER IS
A NO MOW AREA.

Area 7, Roadsides (Approx. 4 Acres)
MOWING: Grass shall be cut every two weeks to a height of 1 ½ to 2 ½ inches except along Park Road which will be cut no lower than a length of 3 to 4 inches.
(a) A four foot wide path, where possible, on each side within park boundaries of Hanley Road, Quave, Gollott, VFW, and Government Boat Dock Road. (Note: No mow, parking area Natures Way Trail (Gator Pond).
(b) All grass areas on each side of Park Road to ditch or tree line and from edge of pavement to safety railing. NOTE: Special care will be taken to insure that equipment wheels will not encroach in or upon wet areas noted on map. (page 7)
(c) All grass areas from new Highway 90 to where divided entrance road merges.
(d) Cut triangular areas having approximately 450 square feet at corners of all road intersections.
(e) Cut area around road signs by starting 30 foot from each road sign, angling to and around sign.
(f) Mower discharge must be directed away from roadsides and sidewalks.
TRIMMING:
(a) The edges of grassed areas adjacent to vertical surfaces such as trees;
poles, guardrails, boardwalks and signs shall be trimmed every four weeks. Guardrails shall be trimmed on the outside/inside edges and underneath. (The minimum cut length of 3 to 4 inches will apply to the guardrails on Park Road).
BLOWING / SWEEPING / EDGING:
(a) The side walks at Hwy 90 Park entrances will be edged and blown every four weeks.

Work is to begin on the days scheduled above. If work cannot be started because of inclement weather, work will begin no later than the following day.
Work should be completed in one day. If for some reason it cannot, it will be completed on the following day.
The Facility Manager, Ernest Echoles and Contract Specialist, Andre Ward must first clear any changes in the above schedule.
